It was great, but Saturday was problematic, as they had to close the box office in the afternoon, mainly because the show floor was at full capacity, among other things.

planners don't drive these developments, market forces do. If anyone is to blame its those who desire to live in these areas. As sad a situation as it is in that entire area right now (my cousin had to leave manhattan and fly back to winnipeg for the next two months because she said you cannot live in New york right now.) you cannot pin the severity of the disaster on planners imo.

would love to hear your guys opinions, switching it up in the expresso thread!

I absolutely agree. What a great location, across form Wascana Park, walking distance to downtown and the University. I am sure Boardwalk (owners) have big plans for this land, although you don't think of them as developers. I can see this being redeveoped in phases with way more density. Lots of luxury condos with views of the park, with more modest condos and rentals behind.

Very much in agreement - I can't drive past there without shaking my head at the waste of space - it is almost an acreage like density of housing practically in the centre of the city. I assumed it was social housing but apparently boardwalk bought it in the last sale so there is a chance that someone will whip out a calculator and do some math on alternative use value.

what is prompting the question? Are there rumours that boardwalk is going to do something?

It just makes me angry every time I go down Broad/Wascana Parkway. It's one of my favourite entrances into downtown, minus the passing of that.
