Perhaps the timing of announcing which stores will be present is decided by the franchises themselves, rather than the developer?

Personally would rather a Rona than a Best Buy...was in a Best Buy last weekend and felt like I was in a 'blue' Future Shop...there really wasn't a difference (yes, I know they are the same company).

I'm more disappointed that Henry's opted out of the development than anything...

Indeed, gehrhardt , I think you've got it. I also think that Petsmart is going to be in the section with the blue entrance that people believe will be a Rona...

The original site plan for Mapleton showed PetSmart going in the extreme right hand portion of this plaza. PetSmart is also supposed to be open by the end of this month. I am therefore 100% certain that the blue "Rona/Best Buy" storefront will not be PetSmart.

PetSmart will be opening as predicted, next to Bed, Bath & Beyond on the right flank of this plaza within the next 3-4 weeks.

Going to have to agree with MonctonRad on this one. From what I can see from the pictures, the Petsmart location looks EXACTLY like the one in Charlottetown that I visited in June.

Here's a picture of the Charlottetown one. So this should end all the questions about it now.

Not sure if this helps, but:

http://stores.petsmart.com/Store/Details/2263

It lists the address of the store as 79 Wyse St., #400
and the opening date as Dec 15.

This is indeed what Ashford has said in the past. They have categorically stated that they would leave any announcements regarding store openings At the Mapleton Centre to the individual chains themselves.

Lifted from the Halifax Retail Thread:

Quote:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Downtown Ela! Greek Taverna Restaurant to concentrate in the suburban market!!

Owners cite changing needs of the Halifax downtown market

Halifax, NS, November 6, 2012 - Opa Greek Taverna, now known as ela! Greek Taverna, is closing its downtown Halifax restaurant to focus on its restaurants in Bayers Lake and Dartmouth Crossing and its new plans to expand into other markets concentrating in suburban areas.

The trio of Greek restaurants, which offer traditional Greek cuisine with a flair in an authentic atmosphere, have won the Coast’s Best Greek food award every year.
The original Argyle location owned by Costa Elles and Chris Tzaneteas will be closing its doors November 6, 2012.

Downtown Halifax and Argyle street specifically has changed its facade. It is no longer a dining destination for Haligonians but for late night entertainment seekers. “We are sitting in a key location in the heart of the late night Entertainment District on Argyle Street and are confident that a new concept will be able to take advantage of the infrastructure fairly quickly”

“We’ve enjoyed special occasions, family gatherings and great meals with diners in our Argyle street location and hope they will follow us to our other restaurants where we are happy to announce that were able to retain and accommodate our valuable staff with positions. We feel great about our decision and look ahead to a bright future!”

“Our future plans with ela! are to expand into markets outside of Metro Halifax and into the other Atlantic Provinces. We already have a possible site that may become a reality within a year from now, in New Brunswick.”
This move should help us focus on growth in our other two locations in Nova Scotia and to expand into other markets.”
WE THANK YOU FOR ALL OF THE YEARS OF PATRONAGE AND LOOK FORWARD TO SERVING YOU FOR MANY YEARS TO COME
Some time ago, Ela expressed interest in the Mapleton Centre. It appears from this news release that they are embracing a suburban format for their chain.

Given their expansion plans, especially with regards to NB, and their previously stated interest in the Mapleton Centre, and also the availabilitiy of another restaurant pad at the Mapleton Centre, I feel pretty confident that we may see an Ela Greek Taverna at the Mapleton Centre, perhaps by this time next year.....

No, there are many Greek restaurants in Halifax. A lot of older "greasy spoon" diner type places sell Greek food. Presumably similar places exist in other parts of the Maritimes as well.

CONFIRMED! PetSmart logo now on the far-right end of Mapleton Power Center building pictured above... just as suspected.

Saw them putting it up last night and when I drove by this morning, it was there. Awesome... now if only they could start putting up remainder of signs... particularly on the other end of that building where the blue background is, we would know for sure if Rona or BestBuy would be the tenant. Keep an eye open for yellow stripes (currently they're still white/unpainted)... if those show up before a sign goes up, it's indication we'll be seeing Rona set up shop at that location.

I'm somewhat not surprised they're attracted by Moncton.

Good news for Moncton!
What ever happened to this? Is something in the works somewhere?

If you do an internet search for "Moncton Benz", There are links for a twitter feed and a Facebook page, but the links are now broken. Also, Moncton Benz used to have a display of Mercedes vehicles at Champlain Place but this has not been present for some time.

I don't think I would get my hopes up over this one.....

Realistically, the NB market is probably only large enough for one dealership each for every luxury car brand. Saint John has Mercedes and Lexus, Moncton has BMW and Audi.

Probably the only way Moncton would get anything from Mercedes would likely be as a satellite of the Saint John dealership.

And on another note, Wicker Emporium is now open at the Mapleton Centre.

I think that was indeed the idea here.

As much as I like Mercedes-Benz and Lexus, we can only have one (1) dealership of those brands in the province and Saint John has them. In that same way; Acura, BMW, Mini and Audi will only be located in Moncton. Oh, they might implement satellite locations, but no complete & full service dealerships. The luxury car market is quite limited in New Brunswick. The only one I see coming to Moncton is Infiniti, IMHO... I don't see much appeal for that brand other than it's good reliability. A Lexus is nicer and even more reliable and the quality is impeccable. Since we are talking about cars, I also think the new rumored Audi dealer is slow coming.

The new Audi dealership is slow coming, but I think it will happen. I have it on good authority that Lounsbury Group bought Dieppe Auto and intend on relocating the Audi dealership out near their existing BMW dealership next to the GMIA. It may take a year or two, but it should happen......
