I'm glad they'll have a permanent home designed for the purpose, but I do wish it had ended up downtown-ish...either in the area of the Fairpark or Spring Mobile Field. I'm sure I'll end up there at some point, but SLC would have been better.

Agreed guys. The Draper site really blows. I will visit it since my kids love it. But wish it would at the very least ended up in Sandy near the city Hall area or Rio-Tinto Stadium ( RSL's stadium )

What's sad is that I'm with you on that one Projects, if it wasn't going to be downtown at least it could have been in a sort of downtown, like Sandy.

It really is a shame, kids from the burbs experiencing something as cool as an aquarium, the experience would be so much more enhanced if they were also experiencing something they don't experience on a daily basis, a downtown. They see and experience drivable only destinations every day.

Will the aquarium be within walking distance of the Draper FrontRunner station?

That is seriously the WORST location! What are they thinking?! Sure they may save some money on the property but there is a reason it is less expensive... it's not by anything!

Also, you have to cross an extremely busy road, 12300 South, to get between the two points.

I think my ultimate location for the aquarium would be right next to Hoggle Zoo. To bad that area is all built out and what land is available the This is the Place State Park isn't willing to share.

Hey all I've been reading the forums for a while and loving it! So I live in Sandy and wanted to update what I know to be going on. If anyone can update or tell more about these projects I would be grateful! I know they are building Zupas in the corner of Quarry bend. The remodel of Megaplex theaters is looking great! There is a new building going up on the East side of state st. At about 9300s. Don't know what it is. The new DI is moving along nicely. Also I only caught a glimpse, but it looked like there was some movement (finally) on the housing next to the Sandy Civic center stop! Any other news, or new projects? Thanks all!

Welcome to the forum. If you're talking about the little development going in across the street from Rio-Tinto it looks like retail to me.

East of the existing one, where the old Grand Central (yes I'm that old)/Fred Meyer used to be.

Hahaha--I called something "Grand Central" the other day, and my wife (not from around here) just looked at me like I was crazy. Not crazy, just old.

Thanks for the welcome. Yes I'm talking about the development right across from Rio Tinto. I know small but fun to see something new! And yes DI is going into the old Fred Meyer. I don't remember Grand Central...

This is my image I had posted a few pages back and wanted to give you some visual stimulation to grab your eyes so you actually go to the link.

Came across Birkhill on Main Facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Birkhill-On-Main-Apartments/356143081137346 It has renderings, pictures of inside of units and even floor plans.

Lone Peak Hospital, Draper

http://lonepeaker.com/lone-peak-hospital/hospital-renderings.dot

I don't remember this hospital being reported on this forum.

Deseret News, April 25th

DRAPER — MountainStar Healthcare broke ground(April 25th) Wednesday for its 30-bed Lone Peak Hospital. It is the second
component of the organization's construction plan for the Lone Peak Medical Campus, located at 74 E. Kimballs
Lane.

The Lone Peak Emergency Center opened its doors in May 2010, becoming the state's first satellite emergency
department, addressing the region's need for emergent medical care. The proposed 113,287-square-foot hospital will
provide inpatient services to south valley communities, specifically obstetrics care and surgery services, as well as
expanded outpatient diagnostic services.

As the newest hospital in Utah, Lone Peak will house four operating suites and a surgical unit. One floor will be
dedicated to obstetrics with 10 rooms for labor, delivery and recovery for childbirth and postpartum care, according
to MountainStar spokeswoman Audrey Glasby. Another medical office building is in the planning stages.

Existing, Lone Peak Emergency Center

You can see that hospital from the freeway between the 11400 and 12300 exits. Just west of it there is another three story building that is almost done. I beleive it is the new home of Hoopes Vision.

More new contruction in the Fireclay District.

This construction is taking place in the NW corner of the original Fireclay development area, just east of the trax tracks, and just south of the stream. I couldn't tell yet exactly what it is going to be. I am assuming it will be more residential. The addition of this residential, the new Lionsgate on the west side of tracks, the new ones east of Main and the existing townhomes and condos, I would estimate that this may finally be enough to get some legit retail in the base of the Birkhill Condo building.

Are you sure this is residential? I have no idea, but to me it looks more like this could be some kind of a one-story retail. ( Hope it's more then just one floor )
