... LOL (couldn't resist).
Nah, seriously, don't get me started on American fast food joints vs. Canadian fast food joints. I try to steer clear of Canadian TacoBell & KFC like the plague since choice, quality & pricing is so much more horrendous than in USA.
I could list all the options, menu items that Canada has never seen, insanely cheap pricing, etc. but I'd be here till next New Year's ranting away. I'll spare you all the pain of that highly opinionated rant
I will however rant about Mr. Imbeault's Imvescor. I've always found it highly ridiculous that they proudly display the logos for all 4 of their resto chains (Pizza Delight, Mikes, Scores, Baton Rouge) on the side of their headquarters on Main St right here in Moncton HOWEVER, Moncton has yet to see a Scores or Baton Rouge show up since the day Imvescor moved into that building. Instead, I've had to watch surrounding cities get these restos instead with the most recent being a Baton Rouge in Halifax last year.
If places like The Keg or Moxies can open locations in Moncton, I can't understand the reluctance for a Baton Rouge. I've always wished that we could get more American chains like IHOP, Sonic, Red Robin, Popeye's Chicken, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Taco Time, etc. this side of Canada but since they have the bigger population, I'm sure Halifax would get it first. Bravo for them & I've got nothing against Halifax, but hey... would be nice if we could get something first too.
I almost fainted when I learned that Halifax had an Applebee's, then the excitement quickly wore off when I realized the menu was a shadow of what was available South of the border. There are days when I get so frustrated that the only things we have are McD's, Subways and pizza joints up the wazoo that I forget about the gems like Blue Olive, Kichi Sushi or Asian Garden.
We also need a Dim Sum resto. Ever since Happy Wok shut down (due to lack of proper advertising or high rent?), I've been craving a good Dim Sum resto but the nearest one is (yep, you guessed it, Halifax). I was thoroughly impressed that Happy Wok was able to recreate the same quality of Dim Sum I had in Boston's Chinatown and I still think the reason why they didn't have many clients was due to Golden Eagle being right next door (and now ironically in the same building that Happy Wok used to be in). Most people failed to notice the miniscule Dim Sum sign in the window and thought it was just another run-of-the-mill Canadian Chinese Food resto.
Anyone who browses the NB Food Health Inspection website will understand why people should stay away from Golden Eagle. I won't get into the gross details and will only hint that they were forced to move next door because of it, but suffice it to say they could move anywhere in town and I STILL wouldn't bother going there even if I was paid to go.
[end rant]
