Also I walked past the Broad and noticed the little street between it and that new apt bldg site is closed off and dug up. Its all dirt now.

An LAPD officer stands at the corner of 7th and Fig waiting for pedestrians to walk into the crosswalk after the timer starts to give them tickets ($175 a pop)

This is an issue that really frustrates me and feel we gotta change.

Getting penalized for walking in Downtown LA:

last thing i heard was that related had gotten another extension until february 2013 to start construction if i remember correctly.

I'm with you. This is unacceptable. Imagine an officer pulling this stunt in New York City. Cite someone for this in Temecula, not DTLA. What a jerk.

what an ass.. i got into it with a cop before because he called me over for jaywalking. i gave him a piece of my mind and he actually let me go lol

What did you tell him? Perhaps there some logic in there where he agreed and thought about it? We have got to galvanize the community in Downtown LA to stop these needless tickets for pedestrians.

Keep in mind, MOST jaywalking tickets are given to those who walk into the crosswalk while the timer countdown begins!

honestly, it was about 2 years ago so i dont remember what i said unfortunately

Dude..considering that The Broad, Grand Park, and Broad Plaza is under construction, complete, and near the starting point should make you thankful as opposed to sick to your stomach.

Compare it to the original plans for the project. Granted, all projects tend to suffer downsizing in this economy, even the Wilshire Grand, but in 10 years, you'll look back and say, this was actually supposed to be the site of 2 35 floor towers. I'm fine with Grand Park, but the Broad tower is a completely different story. I hate it, that's just how I feel.

I hope they start construction on it soon, but too bad for those 2 35 story towers im not so bumbed about that, what will is if Grand Avenue turns out to be some small project instead of its original plans.

Nothing spectacular (spectacular, as in tall) was planned for that parcel in the original plans.
