Looks like Bay-Adelaide East is now in site-prep. The restaurant and patio that had been on the site is being cleared away.

So is that box really the actual design they're going with?

Word from UT is that notice has gone to the tenants in the existing tower that hoarding for the east tower will be going up the week of November 2. Looks like construction is right around the corner. Kudos to LeftCoaster for the scoop many months in advance.

Whaaaat????

Caltrane's head may explode upon reading this.

Note the six month duration though. Of course, the plan may be to move the staging onto the large site.

Wow, that's got to be just for the office building though right? No way they'd build two massive condos on spec. Maybe just the parking garages.

Might not even build the parking and just excavate and leave a hole until they have a reason to fill it. We've seen that with several multi-building developments.

"Menkes Developments Ltd. is constructing a 37-storey building and two 70-storey buildings at No. 1 York Street and No. 90 Harbour Street."

They're still calling them two 70 storey towers.

It's been rumoured for quite some time that Menkes was going to build the office component on spec. I think it was shared here a while ago.

Anyway no surprise, I expected this one to start some time late 2012 early 2013, as did the market.

Best of luck to them as they are going to be scrapping it out with 100 Adelaide west and Bremner which already have anchors and decent remaining space to fill.

Any word on whether Oxford will be going big or small with 100 Adelaide?

You didn't miss anything. 100 Adelaide more than likely has a tenant but nothing has been announced yet.

What size they go with will really depend on the apatite for risk over at oxford. With their partnership on the spec office at 1 York I can't imagine they will want much exposure at 100 Adelaide but then again rational though is something i often find is lost on the execs at Oxford.

Not sure if anyone's mentioned this yet, but in addition to the two 1,070ft/326m towers, the hotel components for Oxfords convention center plan are estimated at 836ft/255m & 606ft/185m;

Quote:
Oxford, owned by the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System pension fund, has projected two hotels on the site at 836 and 605 feet. The former would be taller than all but five buildings in the country. But these figures are also mere estimates, Kitt said, and may change when a hotel company comes into the picture.
http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/article/...ncludes-canada-s-two-tallest-skyscrapers

Of course that's subject to change as the design is only a placeholder.

Well the news just keeps getting better and better. Been so busy today, hardly had any time for an internet celebration.

255 meters is becoming small for Toronto! Lol!

Toronto continues to kick 🞵🞵🞵. Hope the good times can stretch out long enough to see these proposals get built.

It now takes ~200 metres to break into the tallest 25 proposals in Canada, and ~160 metres to break into the tallest 50.

Ridiculous.

The rumour centred on the office tower being built on spec along side the pre-sold residential towers. I doubt they have have reach their pre-sold targets. Logic suggests Oxford is close to sigining a major tenant for One York should construction proceed in the next couple of months.

The article mentions supertalls but also sheds light on Oxford not being all that committed to getting them built.
