Another rough proposal in Hamilton, may be Hamilton's new tallest.

David Blanchard hopes to create a $120-million commercial, retail and residential space in the block between Gore Park, Main Street East, James and Hughson streets. His firm, Wilson and Blanchard, already owns most of the property within that block.

Though the project is still in its infancy, Blanchard envisions a two-storey grocery store opening off the south side of Gore Park, an office tower, hundreds of underground and above-ground parking spots, and a condo tower fronting onto Main Street.

There's a new apartment building proposal for Hollis and Sackville Street in Halifax. It will be 21 storeys and have about 250 units. The developer is planning to start construction next fall. Unfortunately, right now the only rendering floating around is of the bottom floors but it looks fairly nice:

What you are seeing are metal screens on its exterior, mounted as operable louvres. The lower portion of the tower will be a hotel.

Toronto deffinetely has the inside track on a super-tall. Easily! I actually also think Montreal now is in a better position than even Calgary for a supertall in say a 6 -8 year period. IMO

Montreal can't have a supertall due to height restrictions; no building can exceed the height of Mount-Royal (233m)

Even without the restrictions this would not happen. There is no skyscraper (never mind super tall) culture in Montreal. Skyscrapers just don't impress the locals the way they do in say Calgary or Toronto. If you gave the locals a choice, Montreal would be a city entirely built out of triplexes and single pool-side family homes.

Agree. Skyscraper interest died in Montreal in the 70s, while it seemed to gain steam globally around the same time. Montreal might end up looking quite unique 40 years from now: a table top skyline, but with a massive foot print.

It's conceivable that in the decades to come, Quebec's tallest building might be in Quebec City somewhere.

The two highest buildings in Montreal were erected in 1991. so much for that theory of yours.

There's no market for a hundred storey condo or a two million square foot office tower in Toronto. The central business district is about the only place I could see a commercial tower of this magnitude and it's next to impossible due to shadow restrictions and redevelopable options.

There is some hope with the convention centre redevelopment .
