I updated the front page, I know I missed the apartments on N. Temple next to Biomat, if there are any other projects I missed or need updating please let me know. If possible please provide a forum page link or page number.

The Cityscape Apartments which are at approximately 145 South 400 East are currently under construction. I believe there was a recent Tribune article with some elevations.

On KUTV/Channel 2 news just now there was a brief story outlining differences between County Mayor candidates Mark Crockett and Ben McAdams, and the one they spent the most time on was that McAdams supported building a large convention hotel adjacent to the Salt Palace, and that Crockett does not. Not really news for us, but more of a reminder. If you're in Salt Lake County and eligible to vote, and that influences which way you vote, be sure to vote.

I was at a business conference in SLC over the past weekend. I stayed at the Marriott at City Creek. Can't beat the location, although that hotel is dated. Today I learned that a friend of mine from Idaho Falls stayed at the Hyatt -Gateway some of the same nights and is now spending his time fighting liability issues and working with insurance to repair his car that was broken into. The $11 a night parking at the Marriott sounds like a bargain now.

Conference was 100 or so people from across the country. Everyone I spoke with had very positive things to say about SLC. particularly, Pittsburgh guy, Buffalo guy, some gals from Georgia, etc. Anyway, I have been busy but wanted to pass on a couple photos.

JMHO, they should have built a 1000 room hotel into the expansion of the CC.

A bunch of construction guys were accessing the roof of the smaller building from the larger building.

Glad your stay here was less eventful than your friend's....and glad those other people had a positive impression too. And yeah, a 1000 room hotel is top of our Want List right now. It'd be great. Sigh.

I spent a few hours yesterday at the big outdoor center at Century City. The mix of stores at Century City is pretty similar to City Creek. However, even though the Century City complex was recently updated, I couldn't help but notice the huge difference in the two centers. City Creek's finishes and features are in a completely different and elevated universe. I will say that the updated interior of Century's Bloomingdales is pretty slick and elegant, but definitely not as awesome as the exterior of City Creek's Nordstrom.

Most comments were about the towering Wasatch mtn. range, clean downtown, lack of constant ambulance and police sirens, good eats, etc. The positive comments about City Creek were linked to the retractable roof. It was pouring rain Friday and Saturday and kind of put a damper on other activities. They were happy they could escape and walk around somewhere dry and interesting after sitting in meetings all day. Personally, I am not a fan of enclosed retail environments, but that retractable roof was super handy.

Have we dropped a few spots? I thought Salt Lake was around the top five. 9 is still great overall.

This led me to check on a statistic that is not necessarily thread specific. So, forgive me on this. But, the population of Utah seems to be on track to overpass 4 states in the next ten years. Currently, Utah is almost 3 million. It should overpass Mississippi, Arkansas, Kansas, and Iowa in the next ten years to become the 30th most populous state. It's not huge news, but I find it interesting to see how fast Utah's population growth is far outpacing many states. Here's a link that shows a graph of state population increases:

Provo/Orem area is mentioned many times. Ogden and Provo areas are both mentioned as the top ten fastest growing metro areas between 2007 and 2010.
