There are a ton of unannounced tall buildings in the works for that red box.

Should be an interesting decade or two for that quarter of Montreal.

I was advised from other posters in the London, Ontario thread to post this picture I took from the roof of City Hall in Downtown London. I used my new iPhone 5, and the built-in Panorama function it has. I think the result is quite striking!

Perhaps not the best view for density of Downtown London, but shows what the core has for the most part. Enjoy!

If (or, in the minds of some: when) Toronto's construction boom slows down considerably, it would be nice for Montreal to maintain its slightly tardy start.

I don't mind that Old Montreal won't see new highrises. The contrast of architecture and height is enjoyable, especially at ground level.

London gives me the impression of a non-coastal Halifax.

When I lived in London, ON I thought it reminded me of blend of Victoria, BC and Ann Arbor, MI.

I don't remember seeing anything tall proposed for this area. Isn't it all 40 floors or shorter?

Perhaps, but I think Leftcoaster was suggesting that there are many a tall projects that aren't made public yet. (btw I consider anything starting at 20 floors to be 'tall')

Well then you would be on the right path.

No new tallest or anything, but no slouches either. It's a bit of a ways down the pipeline but its coming that's for sure, and the buildings I've seen so far look very cool.

The spire on 1250 is decorative. CIBC's antenna is actually a functional antenna.

That's the bases of the argument that I don't get. How can something that's purely decorative be considered more important than something that actually serves a purpose?

It's the principle of it that has never made any sense to me. And I've feel this way ever since the Petronas Towers exceeded Sears(Willis now). I mean was the constructions of the spires on top of that building some kind of phenomenal accomplishment far and above the installation of the 'antenna's on top of Sears? If anything they should hold the same value. And the height of both should be categorized as their pinnacle height. And have a separate and equally important category for roof heights(the ceiling of the top floor of the building, including mechanical).

Rather than the CTBUH's bullshit and arbitrary 3 separate categories, with one that 'trumps' them all. In fact they already have one for antenna's+spires "Height to Tip". Just drop the "Architectural Top" crap and all would be good. Anyhow, I don't mean to start this debate again, I just felt like ranting about the inanity of it, for just moment.
