thanks for the photos!

if only this was actual construction

as this is what site prep? ...... hahaha

silly rules I tell ya. if this was Grand Rapids, MI ... sure a project like this could stop at any minute .... but a nearly sold out CONDO tower and a HQ for one of the largest Telco's in North America ...... ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm this is U/C and will be completed ...... end .... of .... story. why its not listed as U/C is beyond stupidity IMO.

I mean BC Place never had a permanent mounted crane ..... was it not ever U/C? just went from Approved to Complete?

Why is the concept of construction so difficult to grasp? Construction is the act of creation, of putting material into place. Dismantling a structure and digging a hole is the act of destruction, of removing material, i.e., the very opposite of construction.

Until a part of the new building is put into place (e.g. the foundation), the building logically cannot be under construction.

It's really quite simple.

Are my posts invisible??? anyway, you can change it to u/c now

Back on the 14th I told everyone that they had started the foundation work, thats when chadillac asked why its not listed as u/c.... we arent disagreeing with you prometheus or jlousa. we all get your little arbitrary definition

edit* I know its hard to see in the picture but if you are at richards/georgia corner looking down you can see the formwork occurring.

knowing the nature of skyscraper fanboys around Vancouver/Canada/the World, anything less than a very-clear-cut definition of "construction" will open a huge can of worms. The current definition is un-"arbitrary" as it can get.

Only means it WILL be under construction soon. And it is, seeing that there's concrete and rebar.

That's too funny. If you think the above definition is arbitrary, then you are sawing the very conceptual branch you are sitting on. Your claim that the building is under construction is true only insofar as the above definition of construction is objective. The truth of the former necessarily depends on the objectivity of the latter. If not, then on what grounds do you rationally claim the building is under construction?

The above definition is your only friend. Invalidating it, invalidates your claim.

What I don't get is why people even care. Changing the title of a thread on an internet forum has no bearing on the actual project.
Anyways there should be an upcoming announcement about another tenant for the commercial tower.

I don't understand the "aggressive" tone of some commenters over such a minor thing. To me the only important thing is what is happening on the real construction site, not what reads in the title of a forum thread in the interweb.

Sometimes there seems to be so much negativity on this forum that it really puzzles me.

also support was put in place for the utilities that ran through the alley that is gone. I guess that's also not construction. the wood/steel was not nailed/welded together or "constructed" it simply appeared there one night out of no where! deff not constructed.

that's great news on the Office tenant!

Jlousa, You make absolutely no sense .. And people don't care about the change in the thread to u/c in itself but rather how we are astonished when a buildings foundation is being constructed and that ppl still won't change it to u/c. Even when by there own definition it's u/c. Lol. just silliness

I don't know how you put up with this stuff sometimes, jlousa. Rest assured that most of us don't experience blood pressure fluctuations over internet forum thread titles

hollywood/osiris...

Give it a rest. The only reason you people obsess over it is because there are skyscraper freaks on these sites doing some serious accounting, and constantly comparing, updating, and bragging or worrying over lists showing about how many towers are u/c here vs elsewhere and beyond.

Couldn't agree more. Please chill out people.

If it's not some one arguing over the thread label, it's a re-hashed off-topic rant, an unnecessary insult, or some other useless thread bump. Some of the people here need to lurk more, and some just need to learn how to use a discussion forum.

Well, to create a parkade means excavating.
