The temporary lane reversal on Edmonton Trail during the Centre Street bridge work was very efficient, I thought. Having grown up in Beddington, there are quite a few options for North-Central commuters. Centre, 4th (to a point), Deerfoot, and 14th Street.
You certainly can't expect to close one of those without any impact, but with a little bit of thought put into the alternate routes, it could be managed I think.
