Any ideas?
Shindico was the broker and their website shows it as sold. It was listed at $499,000.

Perhaps it's a bit early to get one's hopes up for a new beginning for the typewriter building. On Friday around 5:00 pm the intersection @ Colony and Portage was virtually cut off to traffic due to the 'taped off' area in front of said structure. When driving by, it appeared as though strong winds had blown off the sign [not as sexy as it sounds]. I don't think anybody was hurt, but it did look like a natural accident. I can only assume this means the building hasn't been sold or approved for a renovation, or else it would be an uncanny coincidence that the sign blew off the same week as the unheard of proposal went through.

Here it is saying sold: http://www.shindico.com/index.php?option=com_estateagent&act=showEO&id=115

Maybe the sign contractor was slow in coming by to remove the sign.

HE HAS RETURNED!!! Welcome back! Now I won't have to self-bump all the CPTDB threads

I'm still doing my transit spottings and photographs lately. Sadly, it's getting harder and harder to get the last remaining Orange and Cream buses. What are your runs these days? Are you still in transit? Try out the RT system yet?

edit: the above emoticons go well to Patrick Hernandez "Born to be Alive", read the thread with this blasting and just happened to notice it!

Drove through NK today and see work has finally started on a 200 suite appt building on the site of the old Springfield Heights shopping center.

They have been trying since 2002 to develop the site over the objections of the NIMBY's who would rather see a dilapidated shopping mall there.

I'm probably well out to lunch, but is the much ballyhooed Whellams Lane towers dead in the water?

cllew's comment about North Kildonan just reminded me.

Wasn't the Jane Building once tendered for that spot?

Apparently on hold for one year. Read into that what you want but the owner says he would like to start in 2013.

And because it was a variance the owner only has two years to start construction from the date of the variance approval before it expires and they have to start the whole process over as renewal is not automatic.

That means dealing with the local NINBY's again and who knows if it will get approved.
