Ahhh, i see now with the videos. They are actually rebuilding the grandstands on both sides. Not flashy but it looks like the football viewing experience will be good.

Yes, they are going to demolish Ivor Wynne completely. The stands are currently at North and South so they are going to turn the stadium at 90 degrees. So there will be an East and West stand.

Apparently that is a mandate from the CFL. Having toured the new Bombers stadium here in Winnipeg the contractor told me the CFL requires the field to be due north/south.

The West Harbour design and location were much better. Though Ivor Wynne is in desperate need of replacing, and this will do the job for the TiCats.

OMG. Poznan looks awesome but it is twice the size of this and probably costs three times as much.

Architect is right - the West Harbour designs looked a lot better. This looks really cheap and outdated. Reminescent of the old south side stands at Lansdowne Park in Ottawa with the backside of the grandstand all open to the elements...

Anyway, at least we'll have one more new stadium in the country. We don't get many of those these days.

The new Quebec one looks good, nothing really flashy, but decent.

Wasn't there a really nice looking one planned for downtown? I guess those plans were trashed?

I'm not exactly well-versed in football, so could someone explain why the field should be oriented N-S? Is it due to the sun shining in the eyes of the players if it is E-W?

Hamilton's new stadium is a disappointment. Architectural renderings are usually flattering to a new building, but even the renderings make this facility look very small and barebones.

What happened here? I thought Hamilton was aiming higher than this. The new parks in Regina and Winnipeg look absolutely palatial by comparison.

I actually like the new Ivor Wynn. It's not a masterpiece but it suits it's purpose very well of being a modern FOOTBALL stadium. Hamilton is all about blue collar and this is a blue collar stadium it looks similar to a mini version of Heinz field in Pittsburgh for the Steelers.

Agree 1000%. What a huge disappointment. We went from a stadium that looked major league, downtown, with rail service to some bare bones facility that isn't much better than some Texas high school stadia.

This is not going to help the image of the CFL in southern Ontario. They needed to build something on par with Winnipeg's new stadium. This is a MAJOR FAIL!

That mandate definitely isn't being applied for the new Lansdowne Park in Ottawa...

I agree. If they were to add some sort of canopy over the stands I'm sure it would look a lot better. As Isaidso said, it looks bare bones.

Hamilton Stadium looks like BMO Fields older Brother. Or if Taylor (Mosaic) Field was constructed in 2012.

As a Stadium enthusiast I can tell you that the Hamilton Field will be nothing more then a tin shed once its constructed.

Hamilton AKA The City and the Team deserve no better for there horrid handling of this Stadium issue from start to finish. Each design proposal got worse and worse. Nobody can be surprised the Shovel ready design would end up being a tin shed on the cheap.

Apologies if I sound harsh... but its the same fate that was dealt to the Washington Nationals loosing in a one day, final game playoff in the 9th inning after sitting their best (and the leagues best) Pitcher for the playoffs.

Hamilton never got their ducks in row until it was too late. Sad to see this.

I agree with thurmas - and for the amount they're spending I don't know what more can be expected. I really don't think it's bad.
Having said that, it's not in the same league as The Peg's new stadium which I think is a perfect CFL facility.
Kind of cool how Hamilton's looks like Heinz Feild in the other steel city with black & yellow colors.

What surprises me is that Hamilton is so used to being screwed over that there are people in the community who think this is fantastic and an excellent stadium you're getting. However, all you got to do is compare to what Winnipeg is building, what Regina is proposing, and their thoughts change instantly.

It's a horrible design from the early 1990s that is cheap cheap cheap cheap, and one that Hamilton will be stuck with for the next several decades. Horrible location, horrible design. Sticking it out in the old stadium for the next 5 years and getting something proper is the better option...

yes but winnipeg is spending close to $200 mill while hamilton is only $120 mil you can't compare the two.
