Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!

Please tell me theyve made other arrangements like moving into the property on Gottingen that they own or some other property.

Edit: No move in Janes future, at least according to The Coast, her daughter is going to open up the Gottingen location http://www.thecoast.ca/halifax/janes-end-of-an-era/Content?oid=3415708

Bad news losing a trailbreaking restaurant like Jane's.

Shame. I've eaten there before its one of the better small restaurants in town.

Hopefully they can move. At the very least they should talk to the landowner about moving back in after the redevelopment.

On another note. All of the retail space in Trillium is now full. A shoe store has opened in the last space.

Hasn't H&M expressed interest in a Spring Garden Road store? This would be the perfect space.

I went to Jane's for the first time a few weeks ago and absolutely enjoyed the food and the service! I, for one, will be sad to see it go.

Why is it closing? Is the property being redeveloped? if so, what's are the plans?

Here's a good article from the Coast that explains it all better than I can: http://www.thecoast.ca/halifax/janes-end-of-an-era/Content?oid=3415708

This was expected. Bedford Commons will be a Supercentre and when the Bayers lake expansion starts construction, it sounds like a Supercentre will be built in there too.

Oh joy! Another Walmart expansion.

Isnt the Walmart in DC a "super"centre now? Maybe if they do this expansion they can find their way to pay for a janitor to keep this new, "improved" walmart clean. The current one at DC is disgustingly filthy.

AFAIK a supercenter includes a full grocery store rather than the grocery section in current walmarts. I don't know what else.

I have been in many in Florida and just about anything you want they sell. I only hope that along with having these, will be to have NSLC/NS liquor laws appealed and allow open competition. The Walmart Supercenters are the best place to buy beer and wine in store and have an attached full liquor store with a separate entrance. I would love to see that happen here. Looking forward to their arrival!

Chronicle herald is reporting that mickey macdonald has sold mills brothers and that it will be moving to spring garden place. Also mentioned that he has plans for the current location, has any one heard anything regarding this? I knew it was for sale but assumed it was the property as well.

Btw the article is online at the Herald site now but I can't figure out how to post it from my phone

Cheers

A while back it was in the Herald that he wanted to sell the shops. He said he only bought Mills for the land and had no interest in running the shops.

As I understand it now, the shops are independent from both Mickey and each other (as opposed to the old, pre-Mickey Mills), so he was essentially selling the "Mills" brand and going to develop the old Mills property into something else.

I'll add it's kind of sad what has become of Mills under Mickey's ownership. My mom was a regular shopper there for a very long time and has told me that both the quality of products and service have gone down hill, although the prices remain as high as ever... even more so.
