Disappointing read about the condo sales... again, not that the building isn't selling, but just how the whole downtown market is being cast. It also sounds like a little media-based pressure on Qualico / Sunstone to get that 450 stall parkade U/C ASAP.
Sounds like there could be a nice communal relationship between the condos U/C in the East Exchange along with some kind of grocery store. I don't think the area is ready for anything high-end per se, but something along the lines of a small Sobeys would be a great start. Perhaps a mixed-use building on one of the parking lots with ground-level grocery, and 4-5 levels of condos above?
On another interesting note, its time for the U of W to step aside for a moment on the new building announcements: The official groundbreaking for the University of Manitoba Athletic Expansion (new gym, indoor running track, etc) is this Thursday. 2-day gym pass for all in attendance... might be worth dropping by
