First and 10 for College Football hall of fame

Quote:
The College Football Hall of Fame, a high-profile downtown Atlanta project, will open sometime in 2014, according to confident insiders who say they’ve got the funding and a business plan to ensure the attraction’s long-term success.

CEO of Atlanta Hall Management John Stephenson says the college hall plan is sustainable and his group has created a plan that ensures success and doesn’t require public money.

In the “attraction” business, the most important element is how many people will pay to come through the door on an annual basis. The plan, Stephenson says, is based on 500,000 per year, a number consultants tell him is conservative. For example, the Coke museum got 1.1 million visitors last year and the Georgia Aquarium gets about twice that many annually.

College Football Hall of Fame gets funding

Quote:
The College Football Hall of Fame said Thursday it is moving forward after it secured $74 million in total capital sources, including a $22.5 million loan from Regions Bank, BB&T and Fifth Third Bank.

Total project costs are estimated at $66 million.

Plans currently call for a 90,000-square-foot facility, including a football field that will serve as an event space. There will be about 30,000 square feet of exhibit space.

That plan would have cost around $80 million and they came up about $15 million short in their fundraising efforts.

Edgewoodis on fire!

I took a roundabout way to work today and drove Edgewood from Krog to Piedmont. Holy cow! First, 666 Edgewood is finally getting some work done -- this is the building Cartel Properties was going to put a restaurant in a few years ago -- wonder if they still own it? That's right on the bridge over the Beltline which is scheduled to be replaced this fall. Good time to do your construction, I guess

Edgewood & Blvd is still hoppin! Anybody know what's up with the plush red curtains in the awesome bldg on the SW corner?

Then one of my favorites, the 2-story 447, is getting built out for a bar with dancing. Then you hit all the streetcar work. That's going to be amazing!

Looks like the Auburn Street Market has been retro-branded to just Municipal Market with a new sign. Hadn't heard that.

Boy, then you get close to Piedmont and there's hundreds of students going every direction. So vibrant. We're really making strides!

In midtown, looks like Cartel is finally selling thelot at Ptree & 6th. Yay

Here's a nice view I hadn't noticed before

Thanks for the deets. Do you or anyone else have pics or mind taking pics of this Edgewood corridor? That would be greatly appreciated. Sounds like some really interesting new developments over that way.

The Somerset

Here's a rendering of Perennial Properties 225-unit project called Somerset which will be built on the Beltline and across the street from Ponce City Market.

I also updated the rendering of Elan Westside above.

280 Elizabeth Update

Quote:
280 Elizabeth will encompass 205 apartments and 39k SF of retail surrounded by a more than 500-space parking deck — all on a 3.3-acre site at Elizabeth and North Highland. JPX Works most recently tapped Cassidy Turley capital markets guru Bart Steinfeld (out of NY) to round up financing.

BOHO 4W Apartments Groundbreaking

North American Properties will be hosting a groundbreaking ceremony tomorrow for its BOHO project, its $35M, 276-unit apartment in Historic Fourth Ward.

No rendering is available but I assume that one will be released tomorrow.

Is this going on the vacant land next to the new park behind PCM?

No, it's on the lot just East of the Masquerade and on the eastern edge of the Beltline, directly across the street from the backside of Kroger.

When they first purchased the property, there were discussions about razing the structure and doing multi-story retail and restaurants. Sadly, the sign above the building indicates that the new plan is for self storage. That's common for developers that want revenue to pay the note until they're ready to implement their ultimate vision, but unfortunately it means that restaurants and retail are at least 4-5 years away.

You may be confusing this with another project but I don't believe these guys had anything to do with Atlantic Station. I think how the Highland frontage turns out will depend on the materials used. If its EIFS then you're probably right.

Got it! That's a cool location. I can't even think of what is there now.
