It'll be interesting to see if the Province supports it, because they dole out the VLT licenses as I understand it (or not).

BTW, anyone know if this replaces/kills the previous field-house idea, or are they separate?

I can't imagine there being enough of a market for two separate horse racing facilities. Will be interesting to see what happens.

Also, they've done the first testing runs for the oil cars heading into Courtney Bay. I can't imagine how bad Thorne Avenue is going to be with traffic considering it is an at-grade rail crossing. Perhaps they should have been raised or lowered so there wouldn't be a railway crossing every x amount of hours backing up traffic.

Well my friend works there and staff were told they are expanding the current store rather than build a new one

TD Insurance building along Rothesay Avenue will add a third floor. TD Bank/Insurance has not confirmed/committed to rent the additional space yet.

TD Insurance has been hiring constantly over the last couple of years to become one of the larger private employers in Saint John with give or take 500 employees.

The New Brunswick Real Estate Association says the province is in a state of oversupply, especially noticeable in Saint John. Rachel Cave has been looking into the story

Don't think I read this here yet, posted on CHSJ News this morning:

Famed Provincial Furniture Retailer Opens In Saint John

A company founded in Newcastle in 1878 is now operating in Saint John.

Lounsbury recently opened a store in the City on Rothesay Avenue.

Jill Sadler of Lounsbury's tells CHSJ News they are often asked about further expansion plans beyond the cities like Moncton and Sussex where they operate now.

She says growth is goal so they are going to get Saint John under their belt and see what happens from there.

The company also owns several auto dealerships and heavy truck companies and it dates back to selling farm equipment and clothing.

I'm disappointed to see that they've made the gangway access hall on the new cruise terminal look like an ugly warehouse. The one on the Marco Polo Terminal is a thousand times better.

I have to say it looks a lot better than the rendering I saw a while back.

I pledge to visit your fair city in 2013.

I Just noticed they are setting up where the old Home Furniture store was located. Hopefully they'll have better luck..

Has anybody been in the new Pharmasave in the old Whacky's location at Parkway mall?

Is it anything special?

Furthermore, has anybody been in Parkway Mall in the last 15 years? No? Didn't think so.

It's not really a mall anymore in terms of stores inside. All of the stores can be accessed without having to go into the mall. That, and the technical training school that's in there ate up most of the space. Same as what happened to the Loch Lomond Mall. There's actually a lot more happening at Parkway now with Queen's Buffet and Cora's, although it isn't really a mall anymore.

I've never been in the Pharmasave, but Parkway is my preferred Liquor store. I was actually inside a couple weeks ago, for the first time in 15 years, and there is one store in there with no outside access. It was some glasses frames store, I cant think of the name.. Remember when there was a movie theater in there?? That place used to be bumpin

the Pharmasave is where the Zellers Pharmacy from McAllister mall moved to, there is a small sign when you enter the Zellers @ McAllister place indicating that their pharmacy closed at the beginning of sept and all paitant files were transfered to the new Pharmasave parkway mall.

I'm guessing in prep for when the entire Zellers store shuts down for the year long Target retrofit in a few months time.
