A few friends and I were busking near CBC Hamilton and it was great. Lots of people enjoyed our music and we made some new friends who were also walking around with their instruments. Didn't make it to the Saturday though.

The Star has run a few variations on this "artists redeem Hamilton neighbourhood" meme a number of times over the last few years.

I'm not sure what that article is supposed to be about. If it's about the Art Crawl, then it's a pretty poor piece. Oh well, I suppose Toronto 'writers' have to be careful not to rave too much about poor, old Hamilton.

Macfarlane is a Hamilton-bred author, as he points out. My point was that the Star has variations on the "James North is abuzz with art" story a number of times before. They're free to write whatever they want about Hamilton (it'd be great if they expanded their appreciation, but whatever). They've been doing this for six years now, though, so I don't find it especially noteworthy.

Personally. Two cents.

Elsewhere in Downtown (via Twitter):

"Just found out that the Jackson Square LCBO is being moved to be closer to the new grocery store, our office was told to increase security."

Excellent, hopefully more selection from LCBO.

Wonder what will happen to the current LCBO spot, high traffic area.

The Torstar group is a giant puddle of fluff.

The one good thing about that crappy article is it made me go back and read this brilliant article again.

This line for example:

"In the late 1970s, the Bill Davis government wanted to give Hamilton a light rail transit system that would link its downtown and waterfront to the airport. The government saw it as a chance to test-market something it wanted to sell worldwide. But Hamilton was sure that if the province wanted to give it something like that, there must be something wrong with it. So it said no to a freebie that would have transformed the city."

Finally. Great to see some action on the LCBO. I hope the new location will be improved and larger. I wonder what will go into the old space though.

I am pessimistic about an improved store. LCBO is a master at fine-tuning its stores' products to the demographic and income profile of the area around a store. I'll be the first one to applaud if the selection of beer and wine improves, but time will tell.

Dundern LCBO

It should lessen the crowds at the Dundurn location which is at times is a cluster. Then there is their hectic shared parking lot with The Beer Store... If Hamilton ever needed another lot, it should be there.

Rumor on facebook is that Waltz is closing down to be replaced by a "chicken wing place". Anchor Bar, I'm guessing. Kinda —... Waltz was getting a bit better in the last year than it used to be.
