I was driving along there and noticed the (dreaded?) Shindico 'for lease' sign on the place! Sad to lose a pub like that.
Considering it was run and owned by the infamous Dick Rivers... I can't say that I am surprised.

I spent most of my Summer in Steinbach, so I guess I just noticed now.

John Dobbin's blog has some very interesting new items today:
Qboda Grill (maybe) coming to Winnipeg (already opening in Brandon), and a site plan for phase I of Seasons of Tuxedo showing another Montanas (yay), and Winnipeg's first IHOP.

It was west of Moray, beside the strip mall with Rogers, Wine Sense, Papa Johns, and P&P Games.

Why is Dick Rivers infamous, and why doesn't it surprise you?

Marcello's Deli is going to open in the Richardson bldg concourse. Hope this is a second location, not a move out of the Hydro bldg.

I love Qdoba. It is always one of the first places i go to eat when i go to the states (that or Chipotle - both essentially the same).

Lol, I've been the same way the past three times I've gone down. Chipotle-Chipotle-Chipotle...

In all fairness Burrito Del Rio is pretty good, if not better, and it would be really cool to see them open a few more locations around the city... but if Qboda, Taco Del Mar and Chipotle all come here at once, it may be tough on them. Burrito Del Rio still has the best location though. (these new places will all be suburban strip mall filler).

I will have to try it. Are the burritos similar to Qdoba/Chipotle? I really like Casa Burrito on Portage across from the UofW. It is just that it is not close to where i work or live.

Very similar to Chipotle (haven't tried Qdoba yet); giant burrito with chicken, pork, beef, or veggies, rice, beans, and whatever else you want. If you're driving, chances are you'll have to park and walk a block or two... no big deal.

(Psst... chain burrito establishments... Theres a huge University Campus that is starving for some new food options here... if you can't bear to make a deal with Aramark, then set up shop on Pembina).

I'd say Burrito Del Rio is better than Chipotle. But I've only had Del Rio once, and Chipotle twice, so don't hold much value in it. Chipotle the first time I had it was fantastic. Second time was 'okay', maybe because I had such high expectations from the first time.

Well you guys forced my hand for lunch today. I went to Burrito Del Rio and got lunch. Very yummy. I would say they are all on par in terms of quality. Now they need to spread some locations around a quarter of what sushi has in the past few years so i can eat it on a more regular basis.

Just putting the word out for Cade Mercadito Latino on Henderson Highway close to the disraeli bridge. A specialty food store with a 8 table restaurant in the back. Outstanding food from a small el salvador menu. Its a mom and pop shop and all of them are incredibly nice. Just putting this out to help a deserving small restaurant, hopefully some of you guys check it out sometimes, for the record though it is closed mondays.
