I read an article today about one of the most depressing effects of Hurricane Leslie. St. John's got the hurricane-force winds, but not the rain - and it was already bone dry. Thus the storm pulled all the moisture out of the leaves and not only are they all changing weeks earlier than normal, but they're skipping their fall colours and going straight to brown.
