Both AJC and Biz Chron have the scoop. I'm very happy with the decision to uphold the majority of neighbors' and all the NPUs' wishes, thus far.
Meanwhile Fuqua seems to think the decision is a bit ridiculous and that his "development" would include a 3 acre "urban" park. How can you put a park and a Walmart with surface parking in the same compact site and call it walkable, neighborhood friendly, or even usable? You want neighbors to safely walk and use your park? Incorporate a pedestrian friendly design for your development that limits traffic and outsiders roaring through!!
On other development fronts, my observations from weekend:
1) CVS downtown is now open in former Brooks Brothers location
2) There's a fitness center next to Hooters and the adjoining space between that and the new Jos. A Bank is advertised for lease.
3) As has been stated before, the official construction fence for the CFCHR (Center for Civil and Human Rights, or whatever it's purported to be called) is up. However, the grass inside is still there, and green.
4) The 10th St streetscape is now mostly complete and the curb cuts near the MARTA station are structurally complete. I am disappointed in the yellow flashers in place. 1 on the side of the road heading west, 2 on the side of the road heading east (well there aren't actually flashers yet, just warning signs). I was hoping for a yellow flashing light overhead, which would actually serve somewhat of a purpose protecting pedestrians in this very pedestrian unfriendly city.
5) Neon lights now go up the sides of 805 Peachtree (apartments where Ligne Roset just vacated and where Bobby Berk is across from escorpion). It looks VERY good at night - amazing what a huge difference such a minor improvement can make and it accentuates the international style look of the building.
6) The little corner plaza created at W. Peachtree and Peachtree Place seems like it is being replicated at the corner of 10th and Peachtree, which would be a nice improvement.
7) Music Midtown is this weekend and they were setting up this past. Everyone should go at least 1 day/night for a good time.
8) I noticed on a jog last week that lights were on in many of the units at the Atlantic. Good sign there (though the price points on a PSF basis are cheaper there than almost anywhere built within the past decade on this side of the Connector...they don't really go above $1.80psf, but the large floorplans mean they start at a higher dollar amount. For reference you can look online and see that Skyhouse is renting $1.82-$2.15ish psf and 77 12th goes above $2.60psf if they can actually achieve that).
9) I just read on Midtown Patch that "Urbanist" lives in the Atlantic. This guy makes me on a bad/negative day seem like the jolly green giant. I hate him with a passion because no site that allows user comments seems to ban him and he obviously has nothing better to do than rant about everything, everyone, etc. He claims to be some big urbanist, all for dense walkable this that and the other...and he lives in the Atlantic. Bwahaha! He should shut up.

Thank you for the updates, Simms! I was just in Atlanta for Labor Day weekend and I was actually impressed with how far Midtown has come in the years since I've lived in/been coming to Atlanta. The city, overall, has come a hell of a long way since the 90s and I had a blast!. I think it is all relative to how long you've actually been in Atlanta to see how far this city has come. I know that there are things that could be done better, but I think that the city has turned the corner and is going in the right direction. I just see nothing but potential in the area. Hopefully, things will get kicked up to the next level this decade.
