I have no intention whatsoever of leaving SSP.

Lovelondon is just a much more dedicated site, especially for developments. Skyscraperpage is more broad, and thus more social. I like that.

Also, as said, it gives a chance for people from elsewhere to check pics and whatnot of the city from elsewhere.

Yes, I agree! I'm NOT going to leave SSP either , but I just really like the idea of supporting a website entirely dedicated to London and area.

This site also allows people elsewhere to learn about London. your other site will get no attention from guests most likely.

Not interested in another site when I participate here, in Vancouver's and very occasionally Hamilton's.
Yes. And it gets very stale quickly on any site where there is but a handful of posters. (this used to be the case in the London local, but now there are about a dozen regular contributors plus another dozen or so occasional contribututors).

Can't decide whether I fit into the regular or occasional category, but either way I'm sure you guys would miss the hell out of me if I disappeared.

You're right SSP provides a much wider variety of content.

I don't necessarily see that it would be any more dedicated for development though, they both could be just as dedicated.

My original comment was just how surprised I was that given its the same creator as WW that Love London has been accepted like it has been.

Yesterday on my way through Richmond Row, I noticed that ugly patio was half constructed in front of Friday Knight Lights. Looks like we'll be in for another season of reduced sidewalk space on that side of the street. I really thought it wouldn't go up this year...I was wrong.

seriously, let's have the next meet there at FKL, on the patio. We'll drink beer, slander Tim Best and AMdeC-B, and plot the destruction of the patio.

I am only half joking.

The London subforum has been withering on the vine as of late.

I plan on going to the final transportation master plan meeting tomorrow. I will report my findings if I go.

The city has already made a statement on their plan:
"Thanks to everyone who joined us over the past year in creating a 20-year vision for transportation in London. We've heard you! You've helped shape the way London moves. Please join us on May 16 at 6pm, Carousel Room, Western Fair District, to see the plan.

Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) will be an important part of London’s future (without ruling out Light Rail Transit (LRT) in the longer term). Active transportation and Transportation Demand Management (TDM) and a city form that supports them is definitely something to strive for."

http://www.london.ca/d.aspx?s=%2FTransportation_Planning%2Fdefault.htm

I don't care how much they sugarcoat BRT... in the end it's just bus service. And London's already got a crappy bus network to begin with.

^agreed. LRT should be planned now for medium term. Realistically, the city/province could only fund one line. What is best? Racetrack design, bounded by say, Adelaide, Commissioners, Wonderland, and Masonville (this however leaves out downtown...maybe a figure 8 design with criss/cross downtown)? Or Linear North-South, from White Oaks to downtown thence on to UWO and Masonville? Or Linear East-West, along Oxfart with a jig to the South for downtown?

Basically two lines are justified... they could be built in segments.

-A north-south line starting near Wellington/401 (park'n'ride station for commuters) that would go through downtown and end at either UWO or Masonville Mall

-A east-west line that would mostly travel along Oxford Street. The line would veer north towards downtown to run along Dundas street for downtown and Old East village, maybe along Warncliffe or something. It would then go back to Oxford via maybe Quebec Street or Highbury and end at Fanshawe College or the airport.

How long does a sub section need to be inactive before it is closed?
