Interesting picture. I don't think I have seen a picture of King's Wharf from this angle before.

^ Very cool. It reminds me a bit of Bosmal City Center in Sarajevo, Bosnia.

I don't know if Haligonians would like being compared to Bosnia in general or Sarajevo in particular....

^ Aww, well they should. It's one of the most beautiful cities in the world - it hosted the Olympics, after all - and its newest towers, like Avaz Twist, are amazing. And they have a similar sense of humour to our own, for example, the popular saying, "Only 4 million people have the good luck to live in Bosnia. The rest of the people in the world don't have such luck... but they do have everything else."

I have to say, pre/post war Balkans look like a really nice place! Some of the cities rank top in the world to visit. It's a place I'd like to go some day. It's not a place that should be looked at with disdain due to a war that happened.

Anyway, the cities there are also good examples on how to keep heritage with development, I mean Sarajevo has 311,000 people and has quite a nice sky line with a LOT of heritage.

According to the King's Wharf website the Iconic Tower will be 33 stories not 30.

Maybe a mod could change the thread's title?

Just received this information in an email:

"You're the first to know...

We are excited to announce that effective today, THE ANCHORAGE apartment building will be converted to a condominium residence. Don't miss your opportunity to purchase in Atlantic Canada's most vibrant waterfront community. The first building at King's Wharf sold quickly and the demand continues to grow. THE ANCHORAGE offers units ranging from 830 to 1,667 sq.ft. and a selection of city and harbour views. Starting at $229,900 and an early 2013 move-in. Call or email one of our Sales Specialists for floorplans and a pricelist. Act now on The Anchorage.

*Please note that due to our inclusion in this year's QEII HOME LOTTERY, there is a lot of excitement about the development and we are experiencing heavier traffic and interest."

I'm very surprised by that news. I would have expected a lot of interest in these units as apartments. I suppose this just means that one of the later buildings will now have to be apartments as that was part of the original development agreement.

Has anybody been keeping an eye on this site lately? I think the crane for the third building should be going up soon.

Next time he's there, ask him to take some photos of the interior. Even if it's just a storage room.

The re-constructed website is now online. There are a few changes. One is an interactive site plan - http://kingswharf.ca/interactive-map/

At least they are keeping things somewhat up to date.

I'm curious about the name of this iconic tower. I think I'm just about over calling it the King's Wharf Tower.

Has anyone here submitted name recommendations to the developer?
Here's a volley of random suggestions:

The Georgian
The 1750 Tower
The Harbour Monarch
Chebucto Compass
The Scotian Sword
The Harbour Thorn
Brim Tower
The Castellum
The Nantucket
Ryan Tower
Rex Plaza
