Was a bit surprised they didn't want to capitalize on south-facing balconies, but I guess this is a bit away from the RV yet. Not to mention the curtain wall to the N/S.
102 street center would block those balconies. i'm excited about this one, More Dub buildings please.

If it's built to the south property line, south-facing balconies would be challenging. Especially if another tower ever went up on the adjacent property (think Icon II vs. Century).

yeah, beaver house could potentially be hollowed out and a tower added.

A "qualified" like, maybe even really like. Need to see more details, but appears quite promising. A high quality 3D rendering with finish palate would help.

Others are right though, the podium has zero relation to the tower, and seems just plain silly.

I thought they had all three lots? The bottom picture has the tower on only two lots and the tower appears to be built right up to the property line.....

an initial attempt that reflects zoning criteria that need to be met rather than the architect's intent??? at this stage that may reflect the podium being a "placemaker piece" and not detailed/final design.

The best thing about the Encore renderings? They're showing us the North and West elevations...and they don't look like CRAP!

...here's hoping the South one matches the North...

Could it be that a developer finally realized that south isn't the only compass point! Thank god! (Or whatever sick being is responsible for life...)

Anyway, thankfully a developer has finally realized that downtown Edmonton will eventually be dense enough that a building must be four sided. We are slowly getting to the point that downtown is becoming cavernous (by our own standards) and a building has to be designed to recognize this new urban reality.

My guess is for-strategically- the optic view from N/S ; and once 102st. Centre is erected soon ( knock on wood x3), the sky line will start looking quite sexy...Their color and Manulife's will contrast quite nicely with each other.

Briefly stopped by the DECL Corn Fest thing to fill out my membership. Ian tells me the DECL memberships have gone from 35 last year to 300.
