Does anyone know the approximate timelines for the pub(s) going into CityPlace?
I was originally a little disappointed at how long it took them to get going on construction, but now that we've got an NHL Lockout as an all-but-certain fate until at least New Years, it got me wondering if these new establishments may open in time for a shortened season.

According to my own pessimistic prediction. Feel free to query the Internet for other persons' opinions on the matter. There are some more optimistic than mine, some less...

hopefully some of you guys head to the fiddle and reveal your inner food critic here, i have been to probably 6-7 fox and fiddles in ontario over the course of 5 years and they have varied greatly. I hope that the isolation of winnipeg's fiddle will differentiate the menu a bit from what i see in ontario.

Had lunch at Famous Dave's today with a buddy. Went about 12:45 and got a table with no wait. Would go back there again over 5 guy's across the street.

Arkadash is quite tasty. I would certainly recommend, as others already have.

Site says awaiting permits and now looking at December as Hotwired said but me thinks its more like..I'm playing for Calgary now and if we go to the cup that takes us to Nov. 25 so after partying for a week then I can go launch my restaurant. I say this half jokingly.

Had the misfortune of eating at Famous Dave's in Fargo a few days ago, food just okay, ribs obviously pre cooked as they came out in about 10 minutes of ordering, beef brisket dry and flavourless. Value for price meal not great.

Sigh.
Well, at least they got Evander Kane signed before the CBA ran out.

Thanks for pointing out that new coffee shop opening on Sherbrook.... looks like another fine addition to the changing streetscape of the area.

You are aware how ribs are smoked right?

If you wanted ribs to be cooked "fresh" you would probably be sitting around for about 6-10 hours waiting.

I have had their back ribs, the rib tips and the chicken wings and they have been fantastic every time. The meat was soft and tender but still hung onto the bone and seasoned to perfection. The "pineapple rage" sauce is awesome on the wings.

Famous Dave's is WAY better than any BBQ in Winnipeg.

Even Lovey's?

I do agree though that good BBQ options are limited in Winnipeg. Hopefully some rural mennonite opens a pig roast and bbq restaurant in the city (mennos make the best bbq )

I find Lovey's to be pretty bad. Every time I have been there the pulled pork or ribs were dry and not tender. Their sauces are pretty bland too. Not much better that something coming out of a Kraft bottle.

They could also come up with some better side dishes. Famous Daves at least has a number of vegetable options. Loveys only has fries, potato salad, beans and coleslaw.

thats to bad, i went there a couple years ago and thought it was awesome, guess it has gone downhill a bit. Someone should open up a Nando's chicken in the city, it would be huge there. Best chicken I have ever had, and they make it hot to, like really hot. Best sauces ever.

they make hilarious commercials to.
