Two AGTS tunnels will be built atop the train station on the third level but will not currently have a stop there; you'll still have to go into the main terminal to catch the AGTS train to terminals A/B/C. It could likely be extended to the rental car facilities in the future.

Level 1 will be the train station and hotel lobby with a drop off area for people arriving by car/taxi and where all public transportation will be relocated on the new T-1 Road between the main terminal and the new transit center/hotel. Level 2 will be hotel meeting rooms/ballrooms. Level 3 will have the AGTS tunnels and mechanical space. Level 4 will have a new security checkpoint.

Level 5 will be the primary entrance for people arriving from the airport as Level 5 is also the main floor of the terminal and baggage claim. This is also where there will be two new restaurants with outdoor patio seating on the covered plaza between the hotel and main terminal. Level 6 will be the main lobby and hotel bar/lounge. Levels 6-14 will have rooms with a pool/fitness center on 11.

I suspect that the reason there is room for more lines are for potential high speed rail, or other commuter rail / light rail that may be built in the future.

I can't imagine that the AGTS would ever leave the airport to go to the rental cars. It is supposed to operate on the secure side of the airport only. I guess if there were only one rental car stop, they could set up a separate screening area. But, that would mean reconfiguring the rental car areas to have all the offices and cars for pickup at one place. They could still have the maintenance areas elsewhere. But, they would also also have to set up baggage check-in and ticketing. Seems more trouble than its worth.

Interesting article on CDOT looking for ideas for I70 alternatives. They should just read this board once in awhile.

Personally I like the idea of high speed vacuum tubes shooting through the mountains at 300 mph..

This thread has been quiet for a while so I though I would post the following link:

http://www.vegasinc.com/news/2012/sep/03/partner-outlines-vision-high-speed-rail-system/

This is only vaguely relevant to Denver but I found it to be a interesting interview.

Looks like a good portion of the new 27 Bcycle stations will be along E. Colfax corridor. A few new stations in Highlands, Downtown, and south, along Speer/Broadway.

Construction has just started. The construction is supposed to be done in 2014 with a start service date of early 2016.

Follow up to this post. Eventually I'll get around to making a nice Illustrator map with these routes, and probably the rail routes as well. This attached new map is just a little bit more set up work, pulling out the individual routes. The lines are truncated to only show sections of routes that are every 15 minutes at midday.

Route 83L isn't a frequent service route midday. Route 79L only runs during peak hours, leaving Route 83L with a midday frequency of 30 minutes.

Yea, it is bad that the route between Downtown and a major mall doesn't get very frequent service in the middle of the day.

The 3L overlaps the 83L with a 30 minute frequency so there's actually a frequency of every 15 minutes along the route to get from DT to Cherry Creek during midday hours.

Yeah, but you can count on one hand the boardings in the Cherry Creek area. Most of the ridership on those routes comes from Colorado, and farther east. (We looked at those routes a lot in our studio class last semester.)

Cirrus, we could get you a ridership report for all routes. Would also show you how many trips there are in total, might be an easier way to define "high frequency" and "low frequency."
