Early this morning I went for a drive from Mount Pearl to St. John's and back again. I filmed the entire thing, to give you an uncensored look at our beautiful, rugged city. You'll see most of our major ongoing projects, urban sprawl, poorly maintained roads, fantastically designed ones (note how easy it is to get from the heart of downtown St. John's to a highway with 100 km/hr speed limits and no traffic lights. Most cities would kill for that kind of convenience)... everything.

The letters don't really mean anything. I just had to add many stops to get Google Maps to display the route I actually took.
Still, I started at Point A, which is the intersection of Kenmount Road and Wyatt Boulevard, one of the borders between St. John's (behind me) and Mount Pearl (in front of me). It's also much more built up than it appears in this satellite image. From where the A is located to Kelsey Drive on the right is all built up with houses now.
From there I head down Mount Carson and turn onto Topsail Road. Just beyond Mount Pearl Plaza, the municipality changes back to St. John's. Near the Village Mall I accidentally almost hit two pigeons so I had to stop filming for a moment there. Topsail Road has a lot of road construction going on right now, as you'll see. Take note of the "peel away" intersections, where the lane to the right simply peels away from the rest of the street and heads downhill. Those are very common in St. John's and I think they're beautiful.
Then I'm on Water Street, coming up to the Fortis Building and 351 Water Street. I drive down Water Street all the way to Cochrane and then turn up as far as Military Road, then back down to Duckworth Street and up Signal Hill.
Finally, back down Signal Hill, along Duckworth Street, and then onto New Gower Street. This is the street where most of our existing tall buildings are located, and where our hideous and infamous City Hall bunker is as well. From there I spin around the Fortis Building (turning to get a better shot), and then, BOOM, I'm on Pitts Memorial Drive and flying back to Mount Pearl.
I take the Commonwealth Avenue exit (this portion of the video I took days ago, but used it here to create the full effect) and drive until you can see Mount Carson again in the distance. I hope you enjoy!

... I usually find them boring. So almost 95% of what I'm listening is in english. Though there is some exceptions. Glad to see you liked that ride ... I did some others on my way to Lévis ( South shore ) I will post them soon.
