I took one of AB Born's photos from the Calgary Tower and chopped-in Herald Square.

AB Born, I hope you don't mind

I'm pretty sure that is no longer the design of Herald Square.

Great render though

Herald Square is going through a re-design I believe. Don't know the actual height or the fact that they (Brookfield), owns the whole block now. It may be a 2 tower developement.

They should build two 350 meter twin towers that look exactly like the original proposal for Alberta Plaza 75! The buildings page and diagram here: http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=26124

Thank god. The last thing Canada needs is another Bay-Adelaide clone.

Actually Whippersnapper, said that WILL likely be the design. - The only difference being that with the land acquisition by Brookfield, they'll be able to add a twin tower to the development.

Rumours around Cowtown say otherwise. Lots of speculation Imperial Oil will be the main tenant and that Brookfield wants a statement making building.

Not saying it isn't possible, just repeating Whippersnappers quips.

Although, asking Brookfield to make a "Statement" is like asking Warren Buffet to go to the Las Vegas Casino and have a good time.

If Brookfield builds some iconic masterpiece in Calgary and leaves Toronto with another plain box in the form of Bay-Adelaide Centre East, I'm going to be really frustrated.

They wont.

They will build an architectural statement. It will just be in New York.

What Calgary will get:

From Brookfield

What I wish:

By me, based on the now-dead proposal by SOM Architects for San Francisco Transbay redevelopment

What I would be happy to settle for:

By me, based on the Brookfield proposal in New York

Granted Brookfield's portfolio isn't very encouraging but for once I'm optimistic they'll break the mould. They've indicated they wanted to do something 'befitting the site' and I can't see that being Bay Adelaide 2.0. Even an accountant could see that being a wasted opportunity. Though I'm convinced they'll do twins of some variety (as if Calgary needed more)

The thing I am worried will happen though is that they'll either go tall and plain or medium and bold. It would just be too good to be true if they were to actually give Calgary a new tallest of the caliber of the Bow.

That's downright eerie. For a second there I thought you'd just added a second tower to the Herald Square proposal before realizing the obvious. I'm still optimistic though.

The east end of St. John's could potentially look like this after two 16 story residential high rises are constructed.

Because of how the land slopes these buildings will look significantly higher
