I really doubt the LDS Church is considering the Plaza Hotel as a convention hotel site, I honestly doubt they are in discussions for any of their property on South Temple. With the long range goal for BYU SL Campus on the medals plaza/dew tour block, I don't really see them giving up a piece of their 5 block swath for a hotel. IMO
Do we know that 5 are actually being considered? If I had to come up with 5 sites I would say they are the following; Arrow Press Square (including the naked fish building, and Bennett Building), Royal Wood Plaza, Shilo Inn, NE corner of 200 S/W. Temple, and SE corner of 200 S/200 W.
I've gone over this so many times in the past, but of the 5 sites I listed, I honestly think the only one with the required space is RWP.

I took the 5 location statement from the Deseret news.
I wouldn't be so sure about the Plaza. I don't think they would give up the Olympic plaza block... But I think that part of the plaza hotel block is a real possibility. From what I understand that area was to be used for student housing.
With all of the apartment development already taking place along north temple between I15 and 200 west. The need need for byu to provide housing will be less. The apartment building I am in has been very successfull with doing student housing for LDSBC... And I would not be surprised if phase 2 is in the horizon.
I think the LDS church is reasonable and would find it acceptable to do student housing between the triad center and west high instead of the plaza hotel block... A convention center hotel at that location would also be good for the church.. and student housing between west high and the triad almost makes more sense at this point... Ist closer to all of the private housing.
All I'm saying is... I wouldn't count it out. The plaza hotel location has a lot going on for it... I don't think a land trade is out of the question... Especially when such a development could be good for the church.
