That can't be true, or at least not strictly followed/enforced. There's at least a couple of Patios in Yaletown that are always pumping tunes... and it actually adds to the nice lively atmosphere.

the OV Subway opened yesterday. its a new concept for them and has leather sofa chairs in addition to the more traditional seating. also there is a frappachino station so they have a larger coffee menu and lastly the meat and veggie area is separated so there is less cross contamination ... good for us Veggies

as for LD things are moving well and shelving should be going up in the next week or so.

the subways in grimshaw and high level alberta have seating like that, who wants to sit an eat a messy sandwich hovering over your lap

First crane from WCFC was taken down yesterday. 2 cranes remain (for 3 buildings), next one should come down within a few months with the final one end of this year or very early next.

James is getting very close to completion. Most landscaping is complete. Tower move-ins start this month IIRC, low-rise move-ins will be in September/October.

Central coming along (location: directly south of McDonald's Terminal & Main st).

Just south of the above is Bosa's Lido project. Demolition complete.

South of the above there is the Burger King and then across the street on the SE corner of 1st Ave and Quebec St is Cressey's Meccanica project. No change here yet.

NW corner 2nd Ave and Quebec St is the Opsal project. Coming along. A couple parking levels partially built.

Pinnacle project. Manitoba St and 2nd Ave.

Demolition has started for the West project on 2nd Ave between Manitoba St and Columbia St. Half the block demolished already. Cinder block construction doesn't take long to demo.

The other half of the block is still intact.

Social housing building at NW corner of 2nd ave and Cook St has topped out.

Olympic village London Drugs coming along inside. Grand opening in less than 3 weeks now, on the 31st of August.

Tap & Barrel doing super well, lots of people there.

Maynards 'public' walkway to/from Cambie/6th is now OPEN:

AND you can now walk right through to The Village, on the South side of the street, without obstruction:

Nice, thanks for the photos! That area will be great when the land to the north of Maynards is finally developed.

As the plots on the South of West 1st fill in, it already feels so much better. As the units fill-up this fall there should be an even more steady stream of people heading to Cambie AND over to the Village.

We'll have to wait a little while before the final quadrant, North of 1st, is sold off by the city. It's wise from a planning perspective, but also brilliant as an owner of 'several' finished, unsold condos, for the city to withhold that land as long as possible.

It also allows (with NEFC) neverending sales of "the last waterfront on False Creek".

As this walkway would seem to make the original bridge sidewalk down to 1st Avenue obsolete, I wonder if the bridge sidewalk will be removed.

It's still a shortcut to get on/off the bridge, I don't see why they'd change it.

I walked there this morning. and i agree its pathetic its way to narrow a sidewalk. Also the large sidewalk going up towards cambie is great except one thing. They stuck a friggin tree and flower bed right in the middle of the path. you can somewhat see this in the first picture with the tree at the end right in the middle of the path.

Why have a thick overbuilt sidewalk running a few dozen metres parallel to the seawall??

What a colossal waste of money that would be.

Come on guys use some common sense.

its a residential street, thats how the sidewalks are

thats pretty typical of what you would find most residential streets in the city, it's not a seawall or high street

I would like to agree but keep in mind there may be a street car line runing down that street one day and the street will act as a distribution route for riders getting off at the stations. This particular sidewalk may end up alot busier then you would expect at some point in the future.

Though there's a LOT of room for expansion / re-engineering when the time comes at this particular spot.
