Shangri-La Toronto hotel to open officially Sept 17. They'll open a bit earlier for TIFF...then 9/17 for general public.

Well the 70s was the last stylish decade, imo. The 80s had style, but questionable. Every decade since has been an attempt to strip things down to the point of sterility. 70s? Bring it on!

Works for me.

Its running on par with Ritz at Ground Level.

So far...

DrNest · #**590** Posted **Aug 24, 2012, 3:47 AM**

Agreed, the two are on a par at street level. But I would suggest Shangri-La is slightly better looking overall.

steveve · #**591** Posted **Aug 24, 2012, 3:57 AM**

Yes, Shangri-la is BY FAR better looking at street level from the Ritz.. not to mention, the Ritz's entrance is AWAY from the street (even the tower is too), i find that pretty weak. They make too huge of a deal with the podium sticking out of the tower like a boot, I much prefer towers that rise atop their podiums ala Shangri-la.

Taken yesterday,

All good things come to an end... the white blinds strike back!

On a positive note, interesting geometry:
