Calgary really is a stunning city. I use to be so biased against it before I moved here but to see the city in person and experience it is something else. The architecture here... on a per capita basis... is probably the best in the country.

And REMEMBER, before you freak a pointless bitchy leak, I said on a per capita basis.

During the Just for Laughs festival at the Place d'Youville stage, one of the main public squares in town. Not the best quality but still, gives a great idea of the urban layout.

Don't get angry guys, but the average person looking at this photo, would no way think this photo was taken in North America. Looks like the heart of Bavaria or something in the Check Republik.

I gotta say if Calgary could get some tall condos on the west end of downtown to combat that downward slope it would look REALLY impressive.

Some 40 story towers would even it out and really fill in the skyline there.

They are indeed in the middle of nowhere. They're actually quite tall though, 24, 27, and 33 storeys.

I wouldn't say middle of nowhere. They're only about 5km's from DT and the beginning of what I'd say, is so far, our best TOD. Once complete, Westgate will have a pretty impressive skyline of its own.

Those towers way west of DT is were the new LRT station is being constructed, and if memory serves me, there are proposal (future) for a large developement to be built. I believe some of the "rough/early" proposals call for some towers over 40 floors... Can't wait!
