No sympathy from me for flippers (investors) condos are meant to be bought to be lived in, in Japan houses / condos are like cars and they lose value after they have been lived in, but people don't buy condos or houses for investments, they buy in for somewhere to eat and sleep!

Spot on! I also have absolutely no sympathy for those suckers that end up buying condos for overprice as gaming chips for their gamble. Tough luck if you get burned every once in a while!

The City (?) cut down the big oak tree on Robson St. that was next to the automated washroom!

I think the City has it in for the oak trees (maybe liability due to acorns?), as they also cut down the one in front of R&R a few years ago (well after construction had finished and the tree had been protected during construction).

COV Street Tree Guidelines is a good read. Look at page 18, "Tree Removal".

They have several oak trees on their preferred street trees list, so not sure why they would be unfairly targeted. Always sad to see a tree pulled down, though.

I have to say, I love some of the floorplans for this building. I like the size and layout

. Then I took a look at the prices

Same thing with SOLO near Lougheed. All these new developments just prove to me that my best bet will be Surrey City Hall monster tower.

My wife and I took a good look at Telus Garden when the presale information was available. They had some great floorplans and some dogs. Overall much better than Marine Gateway, which was being presold around the same time.

The actual location of TG was what turned us off as much as pricing. It's really central downtown, and the distance to either a park or the waterfront looks like the furthest in the core (to both).

It's unlikely it was a diseased tree - so its odd that it was cut down.

That park site has been on the books for years (its still about half a block long) - but the City focussed on Emery Barnes Park and then the DCL money started running out. The dumb thing is that site is the Bing Thom designed condo across the alley is the only one in the area with a definite "back" (few windows) and that's the side that will face the park.

excavation seems to be finished for a large part... they have already for in lots of rebar for the footings.... the crane(s) should be going up very soon
