Not to derail the thread, but I have noticed that Winnipeg is pretty much the only large Canadian city without it's own sub-forum. Even some mid-sized cites like London, Waterloo, and Halifax have sub-forums.

THE Winnipeg Art Gallery will put out a worldwide call this week for architectural concepts for its planned Inuit Art and Learning Centre.
The IALC, to be connected to the WAG and built on the site of its current studio building (the former Mall Medical Building), was announced nearly two years ago with a projected cost, including an endowment, of $30 million.
Inflation and other factors have pushed the cost into the $45-million range, executive director Stephen Borys said.
"The WAG is housed in one of Canada's most significant modernist buildings," Borys said in a news release.
"Our challenge now is to find the right architectural team to design a structure that will stand next to the existing building, honouring the past while looking ahead and offering its own statement and identity."
The centre will be about 40,000 square feet in size, on at least three levels. It will showcase the WAG's public collection of Inuit art -- the world's largest -- and serve as an international centre for research and scholarship in the field. It will also house the gallery's studio and education programs

That's great. It will be nice if the WAG can actually display a bit more of its non-Inuit art. I look forward to seeing ideas for something that complements the original building as well.

There are 20 marbles that are approximately one metre by 1.5 metres. They’re made to look like glass marbles but the sculptures also incorporate gently glowing light and living plants.

The project, called Marbles on Portage, was a collaboration between the Winnipeg Arts Council and the group of merchants that sponsors efforts to promote the downtown as a residential, shopping and entertainment hub.

I will be really interested to see this "glow + living plants" thing. sounds neat

I brought this up like a year ago... apparently the Man/Sask section would die without Winnipeg. I don't think that's true at all... Regina is building as much as Winnipeg right now and Saskatoon has one of the largest projects in Saskatchewan history about to start.

Agreed totally. They must still think Sask and MB are stuck in reverse. Even little Brandon is booming lol.

And it sure isn't like I have anything against Sask, except their football, lol. But we both deserve our own spots like everyone else.

Correction, not everyone else has their own independent forums. The Atlantic provinces are all grouped together... infact, only Ontario and Quebec have independent provincial forums.
