A few things. One, Cityplace is not on the waterfront, it is the land between the Gardiner and rail tracks that used to be derelict railway lands, then a golf course. Two, the biggest myth about Cityplace is that it's all one design, and has no variety or flare to it. Here's a lineup of the Cityplace buildings:
Not to mention at night when they're all lit up in different colours:
And keep in mind it's not finished yet, it's still essentially a giant construction site. People expect this to be the Annex already when it hasn't even had any time to settle down and become a neighbourhood. It is definitely way over-criticized.
