Anyways, speaking of hideous things that shouldn't exist, I agree with the comments on Calgary's Hyatt. Yikes. Oh, and much of suburban Montreal looks dreadful as well. I suppose no city can be ALL good....
The one saving grace for the Hyatt is the AMAZING retrofit and saving of the historic building facade as part of the lobby and restaurant.

As I had already mentioned, the heritage component is its one saving grace.

The Palais de Justice deserves to be in this thread. Fugly blank walls on either side,. Especially given that it is in Old Montreal, and does not integrate well at all.

I hate the fact that it's in old Montreal, but the building itself is fine by me. It has an evil look to it. It'd make a nice hauptsitz for my bande.

[QUOTE=O-tacular;5743520]Dear God!!! Someone should photoshop that old couple in the sales photo to look like they're crying. What a prison. It's only redeeming quality I can see is there doesn;t appear to be any stucco.

Already done the day the new plans were leaked.

there it is. a great prototype of seemingly all promotional posters for condo/subdivision developments. The guy/gal may be older or younger depending on the targeted demographic, but otherwise it is always the same hanging off the guy's back bullshit.

It's exactly like the large pictures plastered on the inside walls of a CIBC bank nearby except they just got done painting so the wife is holding a brush as her arms are wrapped around hubby's arms and ofcourse there's the obligatory few dabs of paint on both of them.

sigh.. lol

I have been looking everywhere for this awful condo ad with no luck, until Surreal Places in the Calgary thread snapped a picture. Ugly on so many levels. Sadly the graffiti improves it.

This is the piece of crap project the ad is for. Not sure what's uglier, the actual building or the guy in the picture.

LOL!!!! Thanks. That made my day.

EDIT: One more thing I just noticed in that rendering: the crappy sod "green roof". Has to be the cheapest, shittest green roof option, especially for a dry climate like Alberta. Though it would be awesome if it was astro turf.

I know that ad. I hate that ad. We have the exact same one here. Like they maybe had a little paint fight. trying to be cute, but end up just being corny.

The guy looks pretty hot to me... minus the drawn on mustache and x'd out eyes.

I love the Justice Palace. It's supposed to look mean. It's like the death star.

AGREED! It's the tallest building in the SW by far. Too bad the awesome new Bentall office behind it couldn't have been taller.

I think these ones might be taller:

Same with London at Heritage maybe? And the towers near Southland Station?
