An improvement over the regular stock at Longueuil metro. Not by much though. Is it a pre-requisite that all residential towers there must be short and fat?

No. But it is a pre-requisite that they must all be ugly.

Another south shore city, Brossard, is getting twin towers of Residence Soleil (2*15 floors). It is under U/C at the moment and is next to the river.

I'm glad that it's only 15 floors though. That means it likely won't be seen for the same distance as the one in Laval.

The heritage aspect looks awkward and could do without the box jutting out the left side but I don't thinks that bad. I really like the curtain wall.

According to the CBC, the developer of the Nova Centre in Halifax is ready to proceed with construction of the convention centre, office, and hotel complex. There was a long delay with this project because of the difficulty in finding tenants for the office building -- apparently some were lined up a couple of years ago but then they backed out.

Renovation of the abandoned ' Complexe de Philosophie'. This building used to house a private english CEGEP and has been vacant for many years. These are recent renderings to turn it into housing.
Because it is located on Mont-Royal, any attempt to touch this building has met with resistence from local residents:
