I thought I remember reading somewhere on here that the windows have a protective "film" on them that only stays on during construction and is then removed afterwards.

Can anyone confirm this for me? If so, is it that the new window either does not have the protective film/different type of film?

there is no film on them, the panes on the cloud are fritted, designed to look cloudy.

The CMHR will have tours of the building site this Saturday. It doesn't sound like they have tours inside the building

Looking at the aerials of the Museum, it will be nice once the landscaping is finished surrounding the museum. This will really expand on the green space around the Forks.

Many were hoping for a much more inspiring facade. I however am still in awe every time I bike passed it on my way to work. At first I was disappointed because all I had to gauge the facade was pictures, but then I saw it in person, was mesmerized. Its scale alone is enough to take ones breath away, at least that is what I believe. But to someone who is a lead design architect, certain flaws in the design may be much more apparent and render the building less attractive.

Lets wait and see what it looks like when it is completely lit up at night, I feel it will be a little different then.

question regarding the chrm what exactly is the plan for the exterior wall sidings on the museum what material our they gonna use to finish the other outer parts of the walls. Cuz i think thats gonna be huge factor in how visually appealing the bldg will look. Right now with the brown wood finish it looks cheap.

There is no wood on the exterior.

toured the CMHR today.....it is going to be absolutely breathtaking inside....5 minutes after it opens all the critics will fade away or look foolish for continuing.

even the scaffold is amazing.

Any insight on when to expect the opening? Is 2013 still doable? Is 2013 probable? Or is 2013 unlikely?

not really, havent they already announced 2014?...apparently it will take 6 months to build the exhibits from when the shell is complete.
