the Guess Accessories store on Thurlow and Robson is closed and no for lease sign is in the window .... could this be a new Starbucks? I was in the 1 at that corner today and it was jammed up mega in there they need a 2nd store right around there asap I thinks

also the BLENDZ at Robson and Bute is being renoes to bring it up to modern standards as it was the original store and has not had much work done to it in a while.

Bosa Acquires Pacific Point in $79M Deal

Bosa Development has acquired Pacific Point, a 227-unit strata building located at 1323 Homer Street, at Pacific Street in Downtown Vancouver. The 20 year old project includes two phases over a common podium and is stratified but has been operated as a rental building since completion.

Hmmm - it didn't mention that it was leaky and the water forced replacement of the post-tensioned cables - one of the first installations of post-tensioned cabling in the city.

The Dumpster removal is dead, it was a project of the DVBIA and the NPA, was unsuccessful in coming to fruition due to a lack a interested bidder at the time and is unlikely to return under the current administration. The DVBIA would still love to see it happen but they don't seem to have the best relationship with the current council.

I would like to see a pilot of this on Davie or Granville and see how it works.

On that note, was downtown last night, and it sure is embarrassing to see garbage all over Granville and Robson at 5pm on a Thursday night.

But I guess it is not really the average persons fault, seeing how every garbage can i saw was overflowing with garbage. Maybe some evening garbage pickup is in order, and some permanent street cleaners.

But never mind, since when is proper garbage disposal have anything to do with a green agenda! I guess some of the food wrappers all over the ground were coloured green.

Prime Focus fx studios has vacated 1255 W. Pender so it can now be redeveloped. If memory serves it's supposed to be a 9 storey office/residential building.
They moved across the street, taking the entire 2nd floor (approx. 20K sq ft) above the Shoppers at the Ritz 1205 Melville; taking the Bute Melville corner retail suite as their entrance.

This pisses me off beyond belief. Manhattan's a freaking paradise compared to Vancouver in this regard. One of the cleanest cities I've ever been to. Best place on earth, you say, Vancouver?

I found the piles of garbage bags on the sidewalk every day in Manhattan to be a real eyesore, and they smelled terrible in the summer.

That "park" is a hideous wasteland of stone. I think it was designed to discourage people from hanging out there.

Gotta agree with ya, this thing is an illustration of some artists bad dream.
A park's success is measured by the amount of use, this thing gets zero use.

i overheard two guys talking about cities at the airport while waiting, he said new york was amazing but it smelled like garbage all the time and rome was nice but dirty and smelled like piss

i don't know what smell i get from vancouver, i've never really smelled the garbage not even during the garbage strike

I like the stone in this park, it gives it an urban/piazza type feel. What seems to be the problem is the way the adjacent retail (Starbucks) area doesn't flow into the park correctly. The Starbucks patio is clearly delineated with the patio raised about the rest of the ground space.

The Starbucks patio should be much larger and "spill" across into the rest of the pubic space. That would provide more animation to the park.
