Even though I frequent this forum on a daily basis and regularly see skyline pictures of Toronto from various angles -- the pictures always slap me in the face with amazement from just how BIG, and how QUICKLY so, Toronto has become.

And Canada's metropolis isn't slowing down anytime soon; its condo boom is beginning to feed its office tower boom. There are armies of engineers and construction workers that are making their entire career in this city!!

Just 5 years ago, none of Festival Tower, the Ritz-Carlton, RBC Centre, the Shangri-La, Trump, Maple Leaf Square, Pinnacle Centre, L Tower or almost all of the towers west of SkyDome were in that picture.

The skyline has indeed changed dramatically from that angle, but the biggest change is right around the corner: Ice I & II are going up in the middle of the gap between the Shangri-La and Maple Leaf Square, and the tallest of the two will appear to be roughly the same height as, if not taller than, FCP, creating a new peak on the skyline.

so being from saskatoon i dont really comment in this part of the forum much, but i creep it often, just got caught up. Found it hilarious about the gay comments, being a gay planner as well, there were more gays in my class than there were straight men. I also didnt realize so many of us were lurking lol. Anyways great pics of Ed, always enjoy my time there, and i love seeing the amazing pics of TO and Mont, as i havent had a chance to go in a couple years

What's even more amazing is just how much of the city/skyline is hidden in that picture because it goes to the north, away from the lake.

Most sky shots of New York are from lower Manhattan, yet mid-town is bigger.

Indeed, this photo I took back in 2004 shows some construction west of the Rogers Centre, but it's really noticeable how Ritz-Carlton and Shangri-La have added to the skyline between the CN Tower and FCP.

The biggest additions East of the CN Tower are

1. Ritz
2. MLS - (given some bulk to the skyline)
3. Shangrila
4. RBC Centre
5. Trump Tower
6. 18 York
7. Pinnacle Centre (4 Condo Tower development that blackens out Royal Bank Plaza from this angle at night)

Nope! But behind the old RBC building, there are a few 20 storey glass towers built during this century. They're there, but you can't see 'em.

You don't need buildings from the last 12 years to have a top notch skyline. Toronto's the biggest in Canada by far, but Montreal's still #1 as far as beauty/elegance/charm in my eyes. This is a city that has style in spades.
