looks like Juss Jazz on Portage is opening a sidewalk patio. There's a fence around a small area there. Need more of that!

I had a great meal there last Friday. Sharp looking space.

Finally found some time to visit the Five Guys on Regent.
Went at 3:00pm and the place was lined up outside the door. Despite that, they were fast at getting the orders out, what with their army of employees behind the counter.
They looked more frantic than a Tim Hortons Staff during the morning rush. I wonder how long the hype will last. Mine is satisfied for a while

Also found out from the asst manager that the Pembina Highway location should be open early July (guessing they planned to open with the new stadium crowd coming in... ... ... ... yep).

Anyways, I'm sure a large contingent of UofM staff / graduate students will be interested in giving it a try when it opens. I know many of my colleagues at work are raring to go.

Aramark, you 🞵🞵🞵🞵.

Do they give out free salted peanuts in the shell like in the US? Should be a lot of even fatter revenue Canada employees soon.

Yes, they do! In fact, I was tempted to put a scoop or two in my bag after I got my food... then I realized just how big the order of fries was and decided against the extra calories!

Not sure if this one has already been reported, but I was driving back home along Portage Ave and noticed a Rockford Grill sign up advertising its soon-to-be Winnipeg location. Its on an empty lot out around the 3500ish block of Portage Avenue.

I recognized it because its a west coast chain that offers a mixed menu, and typically offers a sophisticated (albeit chain) dining setting. It will be a nice addition to the area, and its always good to see Canadian restaurant chains expanding.

Had Five GUys today (had it in the US before). It was pretty good. Wouldn't go regularly but it'll be nice to go every once and a while for a quality burger.

Interested in this Famous Daves when it opens up. I never heard of it until I looked it up, and it looks pretty big in the US.

Anyone know what's going on with PF Changs? I know about a year ago they were expanding in Canada, but I browsed an article and I think they either sold the company or a portion of it? Are they still planning on opening across Canada?

I saw yesterday that there is a construction trailer on the BP site on Henderson Highway. I guess this means that work will be started soon on the site.

as of about a month ago, one of the guys running the fox and fiddle told me they were hoping to open in august.
on another note, i saw Obby Khan in the west exchange last week, talking to some workers in a truck who seemed to be working for him. Later in the day he tweeted that he just needs some city permits before he can open his restaurant. Bomber themed Pakistani restaurant (as it apparently is) will be a nice addition to the eclectic Exchange.

http://www.bodegoes.com/ The lineup changed their name at all 3 locations according to their new website

It has to be at least a year if not longer since the one at City Place was re-branded.
