was driving down main today and wow from about selkirk av to higgins all you see is boarded up store fronts and crack heads passed out on the sidewalks its absolutely disgusting... lot of boarded up bldgs around ellice now too... this is city i dunno it really needs to start doing something about main st man 🞵🞵🞵🞵 looks as bad as anything u see in detroit between selkirk and higgins on main..

and i really want some updates on

I know. I'm new around here, origionally from Winnipeg but just moved to Southern Alberta for work. I've been reading through the posts on the Winnipeg threads, and I'm amazed to see so many posters give the appearance of acting like 12 year olds. I don't see this in any of the other Canadian cities threads, and it does give the impression that the Winnipeg posters are rather immature. I hope I'm wrong on that. It would be nice to see some more mature posters with actual construction updates post here, specifically those who are involved in the many projects going on around the city.

Brownstone condos planned for Wolseley area

It looks like something from the pages of a New York real estate magazine -- a row of historic-looking, brownstone townhouses stretching along a tree-lined street.

But the terrace-style, luxury condominiums that Fresh Projects Design Builders hopes to begin building later this year will be in Winnipeg, not New York City. And they'll be in a neighbourhood that hasn't seen a new condo development before -- the popular and picturesque Wolseley area.

The 12 units would be built on five residential lots on Woodrow Place, a little street that runs along the Assiniboine River west of Maryland Street.

Stating the obvious, lboy? Also, at least we dont have entire city blocks turned into factory forts for gangs, urban prairie and parking lots, so we aren't exactly Detroit.

iboy one of the boarded buildings on main is actualy an active construction site that will soon be a co-op gorciery store... as for the other stuff i duno what to say otrher then most of it is for sale but for rediculas amounts of money.. the green painted brick building with the pawn shop the owner wants 3 million
the new west is for sale for 1.1million the yale is for sale for close to same amount and the northern i hear is also for sale no ones guna pay that kinda money... over priced its sad...

at king and southerland (225 southerland) the wearhouse i tried to get a group together to buy was bought by a construction company thats renovating it they are putting their offices on the first 2 floors looking good.

yellow wherehouse is a sad loose

the aprtments at jarvis and main are going some sorta renos

pointdoulas place 55+ has flowers again this yr apears my efforts 2 yrs ago has lead to them taking more effort to put them in

vulcan irong works on southerland the part towards the tracks shows signs of work being don on it

I have to agree. Same with The Bond Tower, Sky II, James Street Parkade mixed use structure, Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra Training and Performance Centre (at former pantages Playhouse), and 226 Osborne North.
I do have to say, there's been action at the Heritage Landing Site.

im not sure i'd get my hopes up for bond tower and 226 osborne....there is no market for new office space....both are just conceptual sketches to float to find tennants....you need $30 per square foot in rent to make new office space profitable....rents right now are closer to $18.

look at the small office space at waterfront and banntyne....a brand new building that has been empty for 2 years.

Would the fact bond tower is commercial condos rather then leased space make it anymore appealing to prospective tenants?

Waterfront and Bannatyne, a growing residential area. A small convenience store would do the trick. Forks Market is closed after 9, so is Zellers, Portage Place, Winnipeg Square, most places in St. Boniface. What if someone needed non-bar cigarettes, Tampico, KD or skor bars?

Still have to sell enough to pay your employees and above average rents.

That is a lot of KD to the couple thousand people that live within walking distance.
