No problem, perhaps I should create a sticky which explains the process steps for developments within Vancouver, I know a lot of the forums know them but it'll assist some members and help bring newer members up to speed.

Looks like Artemisia is back (helmcken/hornby). i walked by the site yesterday and crews were preparing to resume excavation.

Awesome news! I used to live @The Canadian and I was excited about Artemisia then and a bit crushed when it fell through. Great to see it back, apparently the developer was incorporating a million dollars in art into Artemisia and half of that was to be public.

$1 million for art, divided by 20 units in the building = $50k each lol.

Of course, I wonder how much of that amount is actually spent on "art"hitectural elements, such as the coloured glass wall at Symphony place.

Well now that I've thought about it, the project may not proceed with the art component. Maybe funding is a different reality now. I guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed lol.

I for one would opt for a spandrel clad tower from Concord Pacific over one of Schouw's pastiche building's.

Well at least its DIFFERENT from all the same cookie cutter buildings spread all over Yaletown and Concord pacific place. The GRACE is one of the best towers in the city. I just wish it was taller and there was several more of them.

actually, it's not back under construction. i had a second look today and it appears they're using a portion of the site to hold materials for road work along a laneway. sorry about the false report.

I live in this area. The paint is pretty ugly, and the idea that they represent rising sea levels is not apparent at all. Especially when you consider the current sea level doesn't even reach the bottom of where the paint starts...

Al Gore has nothing to do with the science behind climate change nor does he have anything to do with the data he presented.

Al Gore has nothing to do with any of this. He does not have any data to be flawed. The levels in the 'art' project, though, won't be reached for centuries yet as the increase in sea level is currently only 3.4mm/y.

As for the thread - I agree that this isn't exactly appealing, artistically. I just hope that they paint the rest of it too i'm sure they may also include, possibly, a killer whale or some such thing in the future if enough people ask for it. Maybe a whole host of animals above what is there already to emphasize what the image symbolizes.

Anytime they add colour to drab concrete it's a winner in my eyes.
Something like under the Granville bridge would have been much better though.

We noticed that last night during Dragon Boat practice.

One of the columns has a big blotch of blue paint on it - as if someone spilled it from a crane.
