So was this a Saskatchewan solution or did other citiies in Canada try to build public Wi-Fi system like this one.

MTS in Winnipeg has a city wide Wi-Fi that seems to do rather well according to a friend.

Shopping centre planned for Warman

BY JASON WARICK, THE STARPHOENIX MAY 29, 2012

A major shopping centre planned for Warman is expected to create up to 300 jobs and serve the rapidly growing bedroom communities north of Saskatoon, the developer says.

"That market is definitely underserved," Edmonton based Avatex Devcorp president John Burton said in an interview Monday.

Avatex has purchased 30 acres at the north end of Warman for its future Stone-Gate development. The company is in talks with possible tenants, which are expected to include a large grocery store, box retail stores, banks, restaurants and possibly a hotel. Burton estimates the total value of the project to be between $30 million and $50 million.

Book hotel rooms early to avoid being left out

As Saskatoon becomes a conference hub, hotel rooms at a premium

Reported by Ashley Wills, NewsTalk 650 CKOM
First Posted: May 29, 2012 1:41pm

Saskatoon is becoming a mecca for meetings and events.

"If you're planning on traveling to Saskatoon, book early in advance," said Paul Harrigan, with the city's hotel association.

The vibrant economy is turning heads, with individuals and associations using the city as a central convention spot, he said.

Two major events set for this weekend will have most hotels in Saskatoon near capacity.

4 Reasons to Love Stoon

Hey all,
been gone for over 8 months and glad to be returning home to stoon (especially for summer) and see the changes over that time...doesn't sound too drastic but overall sounds like 'progress'.

I wrote an article on the 4 Reasons I Love Saskatoon with some pics:

Let me know your thoughts.
Hope you dig.

Saskatoon's Two Twenty seeks online votes in expansion

Seeking grand prize for development innovation

Reported by Stephanie Froese, NewsTalk 650 CKOM
First Posted: May 31, 2012 6:33am

They’re breaking holes through the walls to connect two buildings and with that The Two Twenty is on its way to being a more creative campus for Saskatoon’s mobile workforce.

At this point in the project, the new Drop-In Office building has been bought, completely gutted and the design drawings are at about the 80 per cent.

Curtis Olson, president and owner of Shift Development Inc. is now asking Saskatoon and Saskatchewan to help them make it a world class facility by winning the Business Development Bank of Canada Grand Prize for Innovation.

Riverboat To Launch This Afternoon

Written by Carol Thomson, SaskatoonHomePage.ca

Thursday, 31 May 2012 10:45

It's big and unwieldy, but once it's in the water, it will be a whole different story.

This afternoon, Shearwater's new riverboat, The Prairie Lily, is being launched.

The process begins about 2 o'clock, when she moves from behind the Prairieland Park Exhibition parking lot down onto the cofferdam by Diefenbaker Park at the South Bridge construction site.

Welcome home

You have described Saskatoon's frothy, down-to-earth social atmosphere wonderfully. As great a gift the river valley has been, the people are indeed one of the most attractive features of this city. The strong culture of civic-mindedness is something I hope continues to be impressed upon younger Saskatonians. Gotta get em' while they're young!

Very cool...just logged my vote for them. Currently their project is ranked in second place in on line voting. Come on folks, lets put our votes behind this innovative and creative project and once again show Saskatoon as a vibrant community. You can vote once everyday until June 19th.

The Prairie Lily on her maiden voyage

Here is The Prairie Lily on her maiden voyage. I was just sitting back enjoying a steak and a cold beverage when she came floating down my back yard. This urban living in Saskatoon just can’t get any more fantastic.

Thanks for the feedback all. Yes let's keep this city in forward momentum!
Hard not to with the inauguration of that Prairie Lilly...she's a beaut!
Great pics Jerry, and great additive to our scenic summer days.

For those curious about the website 'The Rooster' that I posted through, it is a great site for local art/music/events etc and is backed by Spare Parts. A store that started in Stoon and is now across western Canada and they also just opened up a new store (larger size downstairs from before) in Midtown. Should be a nice additive to keeping Midtown relevant.
