Tonight on TCM (8:00
eastern time) is a great film noir shot in various locations in Los Angeles County.
The first robbery, famously filmed from the backseat of the getaway car, takes place in a fictional 'Hampton'.
In fact is was filmed in Los Angeles County in Montrose CA.
The second robbery was filmed in Reseda. The store that was robbed, named 'Ranchers & Growers' was actually the Reseda State Bank.
The third robbery at Armour's Meat Packing plant (located in Albuquerque in the movie) was filmed in Los Angeles proper at 2300 E. Olympic Blvd. Their getaway was filmed on Mateo Street.
After their crime spree the two 'bonnie & clyde' gangsters make their way to Los Angeles.
At one point they stop at a newstand located a 1655 North Las Palmas Ave. (it's still there!). Later they end up at Ocean Park Pier in Santa Monica.
Even though it has nothing to do with locations, I have to mention the almost surreal ending in a misty swamp.
It has to be seen to be believed!
Many of my location details came from:
