It's been status quo for a few days now. One section mounted on the base, and an other piece laying on the ground - still lots of dump trucks rolling around hauling blasting leftovers away.

As of Friday morning the most noticeable difference from this is site is the size of the hole. They have been doing a ton of blasting and clearing. Going down Joseph Howe Dr. you can just see the tops of the backhoe's. I haven't been down the Dutch Village Rd side but still no crane pieces that I could see. May still be a week or two until the crane finally rises.

I just drive by, still just two crane pieces, one standing, one sitting, and a lot of blast rock.

There was some significant pouring of concrete this afternoon. I'll take this as a good sign that the excavating is done and the building will rise shortly.

Its funny how we discuss buildings as "rising" in Halifax when they are virtually the height of some podiums in large cities.

I was thinking about something similar when I was in Bedford today. In regards to the Tower Crane shortage. If we weren't building so many stupid 4-5 storey low rise apartment buildings there wouldn't be a shortage.

Still no crane. Base level of parking looks to be poured and also some pillars are poured for next level.

Great news... I feel as though this tower is the catalyst for this whole area to become less sketchy. This and the former west site.

I think might still be a number of weeks till we see a crane on this site. My guess is they will use the crane currently building the Royal Summit in Mt. Royale. Currently the contractor on this building has been using a boom truck to set the forms and a concrete pumper truck to pour the concrete, a method they could easily use to get up a few floors while they wait for the crane.

About time for yet another re-do of the design, I think we are on design 4? Really taking colored balconies to the next level. This definitely has design similarities to Fares Clyde St. project.

I drove by on the weekend and it looks like the parking garage concrete is at grade on the Dutch Village end and barely started on the Joe Howe end. They finally put a second section of the tower crane on, just waiting for the crane to come down from Mt Royale.

Yeah, it's crazy. I don't really find it appealing but I could see it being interesting as a weird stand-out building. There's certainly nothing like that in that part of town.

The disappointing part of this is still the thoughtless suburban site plan. It would be a lot nicer without the parking in front.

Definitely different!

I'm glad to see the coloured balcony trend is going strong. I also, however, dislike where the parking is located.

The last design was wayy better.

I think the colours are way too much and the design is 80's.

Some portions already looked to be at grade the last time I was by. With the crane it should start going up a bit quicker. This will look good in the fall.

It looks pretty good - some of the styles seem to be taken from some of the buildings constructed in the athlete's village in Vancouver - the box type additions to the side were used there too.

The coloured balconies seem to be a theme that is occuring throughout Halifax, I like the idea. It makes buildings in HRM different - since it's been my experience that most buildings out here use clear coloured glass instead.

Yeah, it reminds me a bit of the Olympic Village. It's interesting to see more modern and distinctive designs in Halifax.

I'd like to see the Dutch Village Road area turn into a more urban neighbourhood. It could happen with more infill like this, although I think the site plans also need to be more pedestrian-friendly as well. The United Gulf plan for Halifax West is similar in that it's okay but misses the mark a little.
