here's the other skyline, but it looks funny from the airport, as if it was chopped off at the knees - because of the escarpment in the way.

Yah, pretty nasty considering the potential of that great landscape. Some pockets of density would be great, if only just to meet the basic minimum on the scale of urban-ness.
