Yeah, just nowhere near enough that are willing to pay full price during the regular season to make professional hockey work in many cities.

A big part of it is economics, NBA is also having issues with attendance. With the economy the way it is, people only have so much money to throw around. They'll save their bucks for their favorite sport....which in the US seems to be the NFL.

One of the guys in my band flew down to Phoenix on the weekend for the hockey game. He paid face value for his tickets on Ticketmaster ($90) for second bowl row 1 -these are the highest priced tickets at the Dome. For an extra $30 he was admitted into a portion of the arena where there was free food along with an all you can eat buffet. Good deal!

Awesome deal. I'd love to go down to Phoenix to catch a Flames game sometime....assuming Phoenix is there next year.

Americans, especially in the South, just don't give a damn about hockey. A little downturn in the economy and suddenly half the league is bankrupt - while Canada continues to sell out damn near every game at 2x the ticket price. Everyone knew this 20 years ago except the geniuses on the BoG. And now they're reaping the rewards of their ignorance.

What do people think of Burke in Calgary? I think it's a good move, hopefully this will keep King from micro managing the team, and will add some more hockey knowledge to the front office. As long as Burke stays out of the media, this should be a good move and not a distraction.

I think that it's a great hire!It's great to have a hockey person bring a hockey attitude into the front office. Love him or hate him he knows his stuff and the Leafs are a better team for him having been there.

Bump..... Last post on this thread was September of 2013. Obviously a lot has happened since then.

Last topic discussed was whether Burke was a good hire. Even though the Flames are playing well this year, it looks like most of the good young players have been people drafted or picked up during Feaster's time. Feaster was also the guy who brought in Hartley...Burke and Treliving. were smart enough to leave him be.

I think the Burke\Treliving combo will be a much better than Sutter, but I'm not sold %100 yet. I guess a little more time will tell.

I think you're right, Feaster deserves a lot of credit. Our new management is very solid though as well.

I almost wish some of the guys don't come back from injury as the young players are playing so well. Still have some good talent developing in the minors too. Depth is a good problem to have though as I'm sure they can trade some players when the time is right.

It will be interesting to see what the Flames do with all of the guys coming back from injury. It seems like players like Josh Jooris have earned their spot with the big club. But only time will tell. Nonetheless, it's a great conundrum for the team to have. Big game tonight versus SJ.

Burke is so behind the scenes i often have to remind myself that he is with the Franchise.

The Flames would be fools to play Bennett at all this season, there's nothing to gain and everything to lose from it. And I say that as someone who would love nothing better than to see them fall flat on their faces.

They are saying they won't rush him. He might make it for the end ofthe year, but at that point I think a stint in the AHL or returning to the OHL would be better for him.

Not sure I want Backlund back, aside from faceoffs, I think Granlund has played just as good as Backlund...

Heard this new defence man the Flames picked up was the mostly coveted in college. They're going to be stacked next year if the young guys continue to progress. Bennett's ripping up the jrs btw.
