Haha shit i forgot. I was mostly comparing in relation to the two countries due to a lot of American metropolitan areas having massive discrepancies over Canadian ones. Like if Montreal was in the states, its MSA would extend over prolly 20 000 km sq and have over 5 million people. At current its metropolitan area only comprises 4 200 sq km and 3.8 million people.


Those are prolly the only two major discrepancies in Canada though, because if Vancouver had a CMA of over 10 000 sq km it would probably include parts of the island which would be ridiculous, and the largest it could (logically) be would be the size of the lower mainland, about 8000 sq km, and its population would not be significantly higher. Though if you did add the rest of the lower mainland and Nanaimo and Victoria (Southwest BC combined statistical area?) it would be around 3.2 million and still be smaller than a comparably sized American CSA

That's an interesting assessment, considering that in 2011 Texas had more than 100 days above 100 degrees, which hasn't happened since they started keeping records. Higher electricity bills for a/c seems like an effect, and an immediate one.

Houston is also now levying special drainage fees on property taxes in an effort to pay for upgrades to their storm sewer system in order for them to be able to better handle the increasing volume of runoff during rain events. You get some of those levies waived if a certain percent of your site area is permeable.

And to add to your mentioning of Texan sewer system upgrades: municipalities in the western part of this state have been forced to invest in treatment plants for the convertion of sewage in order to increase the amount of available drinking water.

This is so ironic for a state that is still largely in denial of climate change; not even the desperate consumption of their own excrements will convince them.

Dang it... I have been dreading the day someone made that comparison. No offense to London, I lived there for 6 years, and have thought that multiple times myself. It is just sad because London is Half Winnipeg's size.
