Well normally when someone says something like that it has to be taken as one's own point of view. The difference here is that I made the statement and due to my superior intellect, excellent taste, insight, all backed up by my stellar good looks, charming personality, quick wit, positive disposition, impecable manners, sweet charm, and endearing modesty, then clearly the decision is the correct one.

I think Calgary, Montreal and Vancouver are all very close, no one city has the edge, and no one city falls behind. Toronto owns, absolutely.

There is some wonderful density in that core. These angles are amazing as they show both the architectural beauty and the layout of the urban design and streetscape. Gorgeous.

1. Vancouver, not including mountainous backdrop because of its density, and despite the opinions of many I like the mono-facade thing. It is a characteristic of Vancouver.

In terms of my personal skyline preference, I think Montreal and Calgary are just about equal. Calgary's skyline has sheer height and girth, as well as monolithic modernity, whereas Montreal's skyline has age, elegance, variety and density.

Vancouver's skyline is a distant fourth for me. While I like its density, all the green and blue glass towers tend to blend into each other too much for my liking. From a distance you can barely distinguish where one tower ends and another begins. CityPlace and Southcore threaten to have the same effect on Toronto's skyline, but thankfully they make up only a small portion of it.

A few major office buildings in Vancouver would help that, though I doubt they will get any pure office buildings over 30 floors there in the foreseeable future.

They are actually building a couple office towers, but they're all fully clad in blue glass. That'll certainly add height and density to Vancouver's skyline, but little variety in terms of form, colour or material.

They do have some office projects on the go you're right, they are all fairly small and will just get lost in the sea of similar sized towers though.

there is no "EQUAL" Montreal has too many different buildings and many more than Calgary. Totally different ...completely. Montreal is Montreal, Toronto is Toronto...and so on

Downtown vancouver actually has more office space under construction right now than Downtown Calgary or Toronto right now... just sayin

As much as I respect your intel, I don't think I'll take your word on this fact.

Toronto has two 37 storey office towers under construction right now.

I don't know what Vancouver has under construction at this moment...

There's this site called Skyscraper page, and its really useful to find projects in other cities that are built, proposed and under construction.

A quick search on the diagram I can't see an office tower u/c. Maybe the diagram needs updating? There are a dozen cranes in around Science world, surely something must be under construction in Van!

And this is one reason why I adore Vancouver's skyline. Accompanied with the water, mountains, and vast urban forest -- Vancouver's blended magnitude 'pops' against its natural assets.

Going by the "SSP" construction doctrine of foundations or nothing then maybe not, but The Telus HQ (450,000sf), MNP Tower (300,000sf), 745 Thurlow (400,000sf) and Rogers Arena Tower (235,000sf) all are in intial stages of construction.

That totals about 1.4million sf of office space, so more than the 850,000sf of 8th ave place in Calgary and the about equal to Waterpark place and Bremner tower in Toronto.

Of course by the end of the year CCC and BAII will both likely be U/C in Calgary and Toronto respectively, putting Vancouver back in third
